    GPD Pocket

Oh wow, really? This could get to be quite fun...

    GPD Pocket

Yeah, agreed. There are some upgrades that would be very welcome - backlit keys, Yoga-style hinge etc. But a weaker CPU and battery shut this one down for me.

I wonder, do GPD know about this?

    ZX Vega +

Yes, there's some very interesting timing going on there, and one party is lying and it's impossible to tell who. Hoping this all gets wrapped up one way or another soon. There's some speculation that they only have 50 units to send out at most - I guess we'll see soonish if that's accurate or...

    ZX Vega +

It's difficult to know what the hell is really going on, with both sides slinging insults and lawsuits at eachother, and shills for both sides fighting hilariously on facebook - though recently the tide seems to have shifted away from RCL and towards Andrews/Smith. It's like watching a train...

    ZX Vega +

Delivering the few prototypes they have to some backers will likely keep IGG off their backs I reckon.

What the actual Feck? If this is true then I don't see this fiasco ending any time soon, deliveries or nay.

    Amiga Thread.

I'm afraid the genre peaked on the Amiga at Hack 1.03e so there's really no point in having Nethack too.

Levy and Sinclair go way back and are very good friends. That may have changed though, given the circumstances... I've heard tell that the root of the all the problems is more Suzanne Martin than Levy. But yeah, RCL needs fixing. I wonder if there will be a replacement of the current directors...

    Amiga Thread.

Most of Jim Sachs' stuff on the Amiga (when it came to animation) use palette cycling which was really, really simple to do in packages like Deluxe Paint. I can almost guarantee that he uses two or three sets of four-colour patches that cycle independently of eachother, just based on knowing his...

THE 64 - Computer and Handheld Console

For the Vega, it was a home-grown emulation written in-house. For the Vega+ with the departure of the two directors, they used Fuse, the Free Unix Spectrum Emulator that's under the GPL. Of course, that's not been released as of yet. At the risk of derailing this thread, I'll go on. You don't...

THE 64 - Computer and Handheld Console

That would depend entirely on the emulator they've used. If they've created their own bespoke system then it might not, but if they've used VICE (and all indications are that they have, unlike their Spectrum Vega which used a custom job) then it might. Coincidentally, there's work afoot to...

THE 64 - Computer and Handheld Console

If the joystick is USB, then the polling rate is likely low. I have a USB joystick (Competition Pro) that has a polling frequency of around 100ms - you can imagine what that does to games. Couple that with leaf switches rather than micro, and the stupid placement of the triangular forward...

Planet Computers : Gemini - Psion Returns

I think they might have captured more of the feel of the Series 5 with the touchbar though. Had it been vertically mounted in the bezel and of the style of the later macbooks (ie, programmable LCD display) then that would have been a killer feature. As it is, I don't think I'll be rushing to...

Planet Computers : Gemini - Psion Returns

Indeed, though I disagree with you about the onscreen icon bar - iirc, the Series 5 had a touch-enabled panel that was external to the screen for launching apps among other things. It wasn't part of the screen.

Planet Computers : Gemini - Psion Returns

I dunno, I'm not seeing very many positive reviews of the Gemini at all. Which is a shame, as I'd kill for a keyboard like that on the GPD Pocket, I really would. Well, for a 5MX keyboard; the Gemini keyboard isn't doing too well in the reviews.

    GPD Pocket

Mine, while plugged in and idling at the desktop, charged to 100% - and then discharged to 0% and shut down whilst still plugged in. If you notice that it's plugged in but not charging, re-plugging the charger gets it charging again. It's a royal PITA.

Planet Computers : Gemini - Psion Returns

I suspect that they review things on the mainstream sites like Engadget in a manner that appeals to their core demographic - the general public. A general public whose younger adults (the main target) have never really used something like the Psion 5 series won't really "get it" at all.
