The screen in the 'Stone is a 320x240 resolution, anything higher gets resampled down.

Indeed, some of the games - the older 8/16 bit stuff - looks excellent. But when you get to later stuff that expects a full PAL resolution, it gets resampled down and becomes unreadable. Higher resolution with composite connection might actually do the trick, IMO.

Not yet, but I've raised my concerns with the current build (detailed above, largely) with the creator. I'll post here when the KS gets going. In the meantime.... These are very, very reasonable - I've a couple of online friends that have them - and nicely priced. Don't worry about the...

Some personal stuff - and prototypes building!

I had the 'flu shot - and went down with diagnosed influenza, as did a LOT of people in our area. Why? The estimated the wrong strain to vaccinate against this year. Sometimes, and I cannot stress strongly enough that only the 'flu shot is affected by this, the vaccine just doesn't work.

    What have you bought recently?

Extremely good. The stick has a reasonable travel to it, but not so much that you're yanking it around to get things done. The buttons are very responsive with a satisfying click. All in all, I've very happy with the control set. However, the software side of things needs a little work - it's...

    What have you bought recently?

One of these: It's an arcade cab running RetroPie on a Pi3B, with a 1600x900 LCD monitor. The default install has a pretty good range of games, but I've added PSX and Atari stuff via an external 2TB HDD mounted inside. I love it.

My laptop seems to do okay?

    Amiga Thread.

I'd not bother just yet. There are show-stopping bugs in 3.1.4's shell handling which need to be patched before you buy it.

    Commodore C64

I'm fairly certain he wants the Caanoo ported to the C64. I mean, it's obvious when you think about it.

THE 64 - Computer and Handheld Console

Of course we did. Huge lists of numbers (or more commonly towards the mid-80s - Hex notation in strings) from magazine type-in games. But the C64 didn't have a number pad so we didn't use one, you know? In fact, at least on the Speccy where I spent most of my youth, a number pad would have been...

    GPD Pocket 2 Announced

Let's also not forget that the Pyra will be linux ready, unlike every other device out there in the mainstream that's either running Android (for ARM devices) or Windows10 (for x64) with Linux as a DIY after-thought.

    GPD Pocket 2 Announced

OneMix (of the rip-off Yoga clone of the Pocket1) have released a new black 2S version, and a red version for pre-order. The red version ups the storage to 512GB SSD, by all accounts. Colour me tempted: https://item.jd.com/38658720320.html

Pyra Release date - Make your Guess here.

...And this is why I didn't pre-order, and won't back any crowd-funding. I was really, really lucky to get my Pandora, tbh. Many didn't. Although ED is all around a nicer bloke than CraigIX ever could be, this is hardware production and it doesn't matter if you're nice or not. Of course...

    ZX Vega +

But the Vega(or the +) doesn't emulate a Timex, it emulates a Spectrum. There is literally no problem there regarding NTSC and PAL, as there were simply no NTSC games available for the Spectrum.

    ZX Vega +

I had PAL computers back in the day - we didn't get black bars. We used the power frequency for frame timing (at least on the Speccy). Later for games for machines such as the Amiga, NTSC games had a black region at the bottom of the screen due to the missing lines - Europeans got 320x256...
