    Nubs and a Schedule (2010-11-04)

It is however true that orders will be satisfied in order, rather than strictly based on which batch you ordered from. However, since it seems that 4000 won't leave final assembly until after christmas the distinction is maybe moot. People who ordered in July 2010 will probably know over the...

    Nubs and a Schedule (2010-11-04)

lol... How can anyone be definitive when although it is possible, it is also depending on no issues with about 6 different processes happening in 3 different countries. This is just piling un-useful stress on ED. You can expect more information in a week (no change?) then the week after (boards...

    Status summary (2010-10-31)

From what I see from here, OP is messing the board company about too - preventing them from finishing the job and getting paid because the nubs are not ready. (so not OP's fault, but the board company need to stay in business too) Expecting photos from a production company is asking a lot...

More storage options for the Pandora

Well, that is a surprise. My 8GB USB flash drive seems to suck 50-100 ma, when idle. Enough to change runtime @ 34% from 3:30 to 2:48. In contrast, a 16GB seems to have no effect on power drain. Maybe newer flash drives might be better - this one is a few years old. Confirmed with a 2nd 8GB...

    Spare parts (2010-10-21)

Not necessarily true. I thought I had read that building the nubs only takes a couple of days (which might be possible if the whole process is automated). Once the board company has more than 6000 nubs, it shouldn't matter where new nubs go. It will take a while to fit those nubs to boards (more...

Just a quick question regarding batch2 preorders

i wonder how you can imagine anything else... They have 8000 units to make. At the moment, they are stuck because one of the custom parts they ordered turned out to be faulty. We assume that all the other parts are now ready, but batch 2 is only separate because the parts didn't get ordered...

    Bunch of Nubs (2010-10-28)

I would hope that OP add in all the one/none nubbers when they are negotiating how many replacement nubs they ought to be getting for free. I think the real unknown for them is the number of in field failures which people have not yet sent back. It does seem that out of the first run of nubs...

DO NOT have Your Pandora yet? Tell Us Your Order Date!

It also relies on people coming on here saying 'got mine, and i ordered on xxx', then you can get an idea of how full the queue is between them and you. With none shipping at the moment, it is more of a theory though.

Just a quick question regarding batch2 preorders

No. The order queue is pretty meaningless when it's still (looking like) some months till batch 2 is finished. You will actually move up the queue as time passes, but once shipping does start again, we ought fairly soon to reach the point when people receiving unints can say when they ordered...

More storage options for the Pandora

Well, actually, we can benchmark this sort of stuff now. The USB option is attractive because I now have several 16GB SDHCs, and I could add another 32GB without having to keep swapping stuff. Also my netbook is currently using it's only SDHC slot as a boot drive.

    Coming closer (2010-10-25)

Well said. My 0.03€ would be to think very carefully about the risks of changing an arrangement which does seem to sort of work. Closer to home and better supervision might be a factor, but don't assume anyone else would have treated you much better.

    Coming closer (2010-10-25)

Well, it may be quite disappointing to have another month appear in the schedule, and maybe tasks won't really be quantised into whole weeks, but I can't see any way around it that makes sense. They could send some samples to Texas in parallel with the inspection, which gets maybe 200 units...

    SWAP - enable or not

I prefer having swap there, so things don't crash if I open one too many FF tabs. Suggestions seem to be that a swap file will give better wear leveling than a partition, and I use an SD for it rather than nand.

So NOW that we have an even BETTER understanding of what's going on...

I'd say that is on the edge of possible. The plan is to use the current nubs, so there are no current known unbounded delays.

    Battery Drain

Check where the current sense resistor goes. I think MWeston commented on this before, one of the sensors is not as accurate as the other.

    Spare parts (2010-10-21)

Maybe we should define 'here' These boards - no orders, no RMAs. Just support and discussions. The openpandora gmail account - yes, that works, it is the Batch2 pre-order link on openpandora.org. Shops listed on openpandora.org - maybe. Craig's private link - yes, that works (if his site...

    Battery Drain

I think that is technically a bad thing for the battery (based on random Wikipedia stuff, not a real datasheet). If the battery chemistry is not able to burn excess charge as heat in the same way as a NiCd or NiMH does, the charge current should stop at 100%. Probably explains why the HTC desire...

    Spare parts (2010-10-21)

All the UK orders go through the same team - I got an acknowledgement for my LCD cable order (shipping tomorrow) from openpandorasales. The advantage of using the web-page to order is no emails need to be exchanged before you get to google checkout.
