Over 1000 shipped, but any over 1000 received?

You need to be talking about when you ordered, not what the arbitrary number you were given when you asked your place in the queue. The dates/times should be fairly accurate - the queue position varies as people drop out. With the current position in the shipping, order placement ought to be...

    A world without ad's

I watch almost all of my TV offline (with myth), and rarely see the adverts - they auto skip quite well. Adverts only work because enough people take notice of them - but I'm not sure I understand the economics - if we didn't have adverts, would stuff be cheaper? Interestingly, my facebook...

    Shipping and order numbers

I can't understand why people keep talking about order numbers, when the only thing that has any actual value is the order date! (and delivery date!)

    confirmed shipping vs order date

I guess this is a vain attempt, but how about a thread for ONLY posting your confirmed order date when you receive shipping confirmation. (and only really if it is more recent than the last previous post, or that seems far out of sequence). That will show people how production is progressing...

    WiFi tethering

The android 2.2 wifi hotspot is not ad-hoc. You shouldn't need any extra software, it ought to just work. If you have an extra app on the phone, that might explain the problem.

    USB device mode

The kernel tree still suggests this is experimental, so plenty of scope for adding in features.

Who's is going run the OS from the SD card?

I think it was nothing critical, e2fsck seems to have fixed it (or it thinks it has). So much for cheap SD cards!

Who's is going run the OS from the SD card?

Anyone who does boot from SD might want to think about doing backups of their SD regularly - mine has just failed to copy with dd at 5.7/16GB. I'd hate to have to work out what I have already opkg-installed on it and go through that again!

    Bounties, ports, software... How much.

I'm not really a dev, but bounties are kind of secondary to the choice of what is interesting to work on for each individual. You'll struggle to encourage someone to work on a project just because you like the idea. I think this is why a competition works well - it's more about the recognition...

U-Boot from ext2 formatted SD card fails.

The commit you reference is quite old - but I think you need to apply HF4 regardless (maybe ED said it was now being flashed during assembly, not certain). I do boot from an ext2 SD, with no problems, on a one-nub unit. My boot.txt is slightly different in its ext2load: setenv bootargs...

    The £5,000 Challenge

It would be interesting to see an educated guess of the amount of work involved. Probably a fair bit of manual merging of patches, but there might not be a lot that is rocket science.

Who's is going run the OS from the SD card?

The good thing about the wiki is that you can put your text into any 'reasonable' place and reasonably expect someone more familiar with the structure to move it for you. Also applies to proof reading, etc. I would today make Storage_performance a topic in its own right, covering lifetime and...

    The £5,000 Challenge

I'm wondering if that much cash would get the kernel updated to 2.6.37 together with the performance and power management improvements that come with that. Boot time is at the bottom of my list of wants - it is good enough to not be an issue, even when I was messing about building the kernel and...

    All the nubs are there! (2011 - 01 - 11)

Me thinks you have very limited experience of PCB/product manufacture. Splitting the production would be the best way to ensure both options fail. Keep the options open, make today's decisions based on best information available now, not what seemed like a good idea last year.

    Overclock speeds?

Mine does 810ish at stock voltage, and as I got very little advantage in going from opp4 to opp5 (the max safe value). I was also able to run quite high at opp1 (the lowest, which is speced to only run up to 125MHz). So far as I could tell, there wasn't a significant change in battery drain for...

Socketed Processor, Ram, Graphics and NAND Chip?

it makes more sense for desktops because you want to be able to choose MB/CPU/RAM/VIDc combination depending on the sort of machine you are building - not just for upgrades. If a motherboard with 4GB of decent DDR3 soldered on was available, it might just now make sense with the RAM becoming...

looking for partners to finish my Tablet

It should be easy - but noone has bothered yet... also, without the market and gapps, android is not consumer friendly. This is why everyone is now holding off till 3.0 before releasing their tablets. Android on a netbook type device is just wrong - the right apps don't exist. Look at the ac100...

looking for partners to finish my Tablet

QED. What differentiates your product? There are already some cheap android tablets, and tegra2 tablets, and tablets for people who like the Apple interface. CES seems to have been full of tablets. If you're for real, I suspect you have missed the boat on this one. Find something different to...
