I suspect they are after either time or money savings. A bit like trying to build yourself a new car by purchasing all of the parts, it would likely wind up being more expensive than simply buying the whole unit. As for the time savings factor or wanting to jump the queue - I doubt that the...

    Production Pyra photos/videos/thoughts thread

@daveshah I am likely to have a bit more time on my hands starting next week. Have things progressed to where it is worthwhile to write up step by step in order to have additional hands and eyes testing things?

Politics of Gnome and Perceptions of rudeness (Random things from Daveshah's thread)

This is what happens to every news thread here when it has outlived it's shelf life. The only real cure is a new news thread with new news.

In that case, it would need to be a 6" x 8" 3 ring cloth bound binder with the name and version on the spine with a board box slip cover. 1595603302 The manual could actually just be an html document added to the OS install with an icon on the desktop. Or even a PND that downloads and syncs...

My suspicion is that you have a 'late prototype' case that is a combination of first-run testing for the coated plastics combined with uncoated pieces. Remember that this unit was 'rushed out' to daveshah as a developer unit - don't harp about the finer aesthetics so much. Edit: Ulp - I guess...

That was quick! How is Suprtux 2 playing on it? I wonder how long it will take to get from above working example to an easily downloadable image.

So - rotation is turned off in the new OS build? Congratulations on being the first owner of a production Pyra!

I use my "Kobo Aura One SE" e-reader pretty much daily. The best feature? Overdrive. It allows me to check out e-books for free from my public library directly on the e-reader and download books from Project Gutenberg using the built-in web browser on the e-reader. One of the best device...

    It's software this time!

I read it. It deals specifically with hydrogen within galaxies, not between them. The vast majority of hydrogen within the gravitational effects of the galaxies themselves - and their trail through the universe - would have been absorbed into star formation and excited by radiation and put in...

Our galaxy (and the rest in the Laniakea cluster) would be hoovering these neutrons up via gravity in it's path through the universe just the moons of Saturn clear paths through the rings. I was pretty specific when I based my hypothesis on these being free neutrons in intergalactic space...

    It's software this time!

Agreed that neutrons are not, "Dark Matter". However, they are 'normal matter' that is -very- hard to detect at low densities at great distances. If they were standing still, enough neutrons to make up the "missing mass/energy" of the universe, they would only need to have a density of 2.5...

    It's software this time!

Agreed. But to jump from that statement to, "There must be some magical invisible undetectable fairy dust substance for which we have to take the presence of based on faith that we will call Dark Matter," isn't science anymore. I am in the camp that such exotic explanations are likely...

Neutrino decay is continuous and regular. However, gravity lessens exponentially with distance. A neutrino fired 'out' would have the effect of pushing the universe in. A neutrino fired 'in' would have the effect of pushing the universe out AND have the odd chance of colliding with mass along...

    It's software this time!

Hmm. Clearly you didn't bother to actually read what I wrote. I believe that the effects of neutrino decay and the simple resulting momentum is a much more probable culprit for "forcing" galaxies apart.

    It's software this time!

If we're going to talk physics, I am of the opinion that what is currently being passed as the theory of Dark Matter is a 'load of faith/belief' with very little fact. I do think that there is potential for a whole lot of non-stellar dark mass in the universe - thus that normal matter is 'dark'...
