    Spontaneous Gp2x Bricking

My GP2X died like that, and it was sent back to Gbax in the first week of December. Couldn't get the refund out of them though. They claimed that it was processed, but no money ever hit my card. The matter is currently with my credit card company's retail dispute department.

    Spontaneous Gp2x Bricking

Yeah, that's all very well. However, this is a known issue, and the GP2X seems to have a tendancy to auto-brick in this exact way. I have never dealt with a retailer who doesn't refund immediatelly in a case like this. I've only had the thing a week, and it died. That's just not acceptable. As...

    Spontaneous Gp2x Bricking

Well, that quote is the reason specified for not issuing the refund right now. I don't care if they investigate the cause of the lemming machines, but I don't see why that should delay the refund being issued. They can do that on their time, not mine.

    Spontaneous Gp2x Bricking

Same thing happened to me. My GP2X (part of V001-500 batch) also just spontaneously killed itself. No firmware was on the SD at the time. GBAX haven't exactly been responsive when I asked for a refund. They ignored several e-mails, but eventually they told me to send it back, which I did...

    Updating Firmware?

Yup, I can confirm that this worked for me. My 1GB SD card from gbax came with a single partition of type 06 (FAT16). This worked fine for everything except updating the firmware. When I tried to do that, I got the same results as everyone else (file being deleted without doing anything)...

    Screen Protector Question

Also, don't forget the little strip of vinyl that covers the power/battery LEDs and gamepark logo. In total you need to pull off the vinyl strip on the main screen (using the red tab), then pull off the white plastic on the back of the screen protector. Then stick the screen protector onto the...

    Terrible Battery Life

Thanks for the responses guys. I'll try something other than Frodo tomorrow and see if I can get a little more life out of it. If not, then it'll have to go back to Craig. It would be a shame though. I like the little sucker already (even if it has a joystick which feels somewhat similar to...

    Terrible Battery Life

Okay, so it looks as though the application running is the most important factor when it comes to the battery life, yes? Can somebody confirm that Frodo isn't sucking up the old battery juice at a rapid rate? There's no white buildup on my contacts, and I've tried a couple of brands of battery...

    Terrible Battery Life

I only get about 10-15 minutes out of a fully charged set of 2300 mAh batteries. That's while playing Great Giana Sisters in Frodo. After 10-15 minutes, the screen corrupts and the whole thing hangs. Batteries drained. These batteries work fine in other equipment (digital camera, iRiver etc.)...

    Which Os Do You Use?

I use Linux (Debian) on my home laptop and desktop, as well as my work desktop. The servers at work run a mixture of Debian, RedHat SuSE and various flavours of Windows. In addition to that, I have a e-book reader that runs Linux (Sony LIBRIe), a DVD/DivX player that runs Linux (KiSS DP-1500)...
