Your thoughts on Legend Of Zelda: Breath of The Wild?

Well every game I've had issues with in the past where on 100% "N" created devices/hardware, so if that is their plan, it's a rather poor one. I have found motion controls usable in some situations, but I have never had 100% accuracy, and for me, that is a broken control option. And with no other choices, your stuck playing games that are more work dealing with the controls, than actually playing and enjoying the game.. If I'm using a standard controller, and something goes wrong, it's human error. With motion controls, when things don't work as they should, it can be a combination of so many things, it just becomes frustrating, more than any level of fun that should be had.

In my experience, motion controls have to be done very right to not detract from the game. Aiming in Metroid Prime 3 and Resident Evil 4 on the Wii, gyro-supported aiming on the Steam Controller and the few VR games I have played on a friend's HTC Vive are examples that worked very well for me.
Doesn't BotW do gyro-aiming on the Wii U tablet controller? I remember that working okay for me, better than stick-only aiming...

To make life harder for people using emulators maybe? Although looking at youtube videos of it, it should map quite well to a mouse.

Indeed, for the pointing device version of Nintendo's motion controls which is controlled using an IR camera on the front of the controller which uses two IR light sources for reference - you have to tell it if you've placed them underneath or on top of the TV.

But the controllers also contain accelerometers and gyroscopes that don't need to refer to the screen. Shaking the controller to spin is using that stuff for example. Luckily, the sensors in the first gen wiimote were rather inaccurate, so outside of Wii Sports only really used for a couple of different discrete actions, which could easily be mapped to buttons if you have enough of them. There's a later version of the wiimote (so called 'motionplus') with more accurate spatial sensors, but the only proper game I know of that uses that on the Wii was TLoZ: Skyward Sword, and I didn't play that enough to find out how it's used in that.

I agree Metroid and RE4 where about my favorite uses of motion controls across the Wii's library for sure, as that is about the most perfect use for them, where if you have any issues, it's not a big deal. As it's pretty much point, and shoot.

BotW does use the gyro aiming, but I'm playing with the pro controller, and I haven't yet found any need for accurate aiming. But the tablet while functional, is just to bog, heavy and clunky for me in general, so I try to avoid it when possible. I've used it just once or twice for off screen play when the TV was being used, but normally I don't care for the tablet. The Wii U version had map features, and I'm sure other things that made it's use more beneficial, but since they made the game for the NS, all those features where removed, which is another middle finger to those who supported "N" in buying a Wii U in the first place.

Past Zelda games have had bow challenges where the gyro-aiming may come in handy, and having the option to use or not use is all I ask. So far I haven't reached anything of that nature, so I may use the tablet for that in the future if I think it could give me an edge.

I've done 3 or 4 motion shrines so far and I've found them to be pretty clever and intuitive, had no problem with them at all.

Yeah, I hope this Zelda returns to form, as BotW is on the rather short list of Zelda games I've never finished, as it was beyond boring to me, and not much an actual "Zelda" title(but more power to those who enjoyed it).
