When I find some time I try to understand why some Pandora hardware does not work with the mainline kernel, and to fix the problem.
It might be easier to fix problems if probing can be done on the PCB to check e.g. if the power is supplied to the non working component, the component has a clock...
for some experiments I'm looking for a Openpandora PCB. It doesn't matter if it is a 1st edition, rebirth or 1GHz version.
Pandoras with broken case, display or LCD cable are welcome.
Please state in addition the price for the PCB the price for shipping to Germany.
Please explain in more details (esp. versions) what you tried? For me letux OS (branch 4.19) re-started working with 4.19.92. The last version of 4.19 I tried on my Pandora was 4.19.94. Trying with letux version 5.4.8 my Pandora showed lxde desktop too, but the nubs were not working.
The SD card with letux-4.19.87 was incomplete because the kernel is missing on the download server.
If letux-4.19.88 .. 91 is installed on an SD card containing letux-4.19.86 or prior (without wiping the filesystem) the system works too.
The reason might be hidden in the...
I did some tests with makesd today. The SD cards created by makesd work until letux-4.19.86 (tested letux-4.19.14/52/71/81/86).
Letux-4.19.87 stops early after showing:
2129 bytes read in 33 ms (62.5KiB/s)
## Executing script at 82000000
Newer version (letux-4.19.88-91) stop starting when the...
This year my test of the letux OS was very short. My GHz Pandora stops during boot. Content of /var/log/messages:
Needed to remove the battery to recover the Pandora. The SD card was created with the comand
makesd openpandora. The filesystem check did not report any problem with the SD card
Below are some wild guesses. hns may, when he reads the text below, start laughing so loud that I will hear him (he is only 70 km away).
Sadly there is not much usage of the regen feature of the twl4030 in the OMAP3 dts files or I was not able to find it. I found only a comment in the file...
If the debugfs is not lying to me SuperZaxxon and Letux, both pulling the GPIO_164 up. This means that the switch (TPS2041B) for the USB_HOST_5V is on. This brings me to the conclusion that the power/voltage on the input of the switch is missing when running Letux. Reading the schematic further...
Short update about the USB-A interface of my Pandora: I dug out my ancient electrical knowledge, grabbed an old USB 2.0 cable, cut it in the middle and connected a voltage meter to the open end. The outcome is that the voltage meter shows 5V when running the SuperZaxxon Linux but 0V when running...
a year has gone so fast. I found the time to do a new SD card for my Pandora and here are my findings:
the popup "No session for pid XXX" is still there
the nubs are fix, working fine
the external mouse and keyboard are working now (keyboard layout is english)
No joy with the USB-A...
to shorten the time until the pyra arrives I'm reading the archive of the pyra kernel mailing list (https://www.pyra-handheld.com/pipermail/kernel/2018-August/) but suddenly it is not longer available.
Does anyone have an idea where the archive went?
