What software do we want from the Rebirth Competition?

Here are two things I'd like to see (and am planning to get around to - eventually - if no one does them) that should be possible to get right in the time allotted: An open-source/free-as-in-speech replacement/workalike for PictoChat with Gravatar support An open-source/free-as-in-speech...

I have made this silly little thing over the break...

https://www.youtube.com/embed/xtgkiT_uhj0?feature=oembed (Astute readers may remember development on this was halted indefinitely after some rotter broke into my car and stole the flash drive with the source backups on it. It's back.) if you're wondering what happened to the multiplayer...

Pandoras At Landmarks And Famous Places

Saddledome, surely? We should meet up sometime, I live nearby. Also, someone needs to photograph one in front of HP Pavillion (which is famous for invariably being dormant after the second round of the playoffs :( ).

Using hotfix4, how high can you clock?

875 seems to be about the useful limit for mine (not complaining, this is plenty, I have mine set to default to 400 to save battery life). At 900, I could navigate around the desktop, but Quake 3 and GCC both froze, requiring hard resets. I didn't try anything else.

    Motto, catchline or slogan?

"Pandora: Yeah, it can do that, too." This stems from an idea for a commercial I had: INTERIOR, BURGER/FAST FOOD RESTAURANT (We see a YOUNG WOMAN approach the counter. A CLERK is standing at the cash register, waiting expectantly) YOUNG WOMAN: I'd like two large nubs, one widescreen...

Handheld RPG desperately needs an open source replacement + code monkey for hire

Hi all, Just so you know, I didn't die in a tragic non-dairy creamer incident or give up on this. I did, however, become absurdly busy with work. I will be committing version 0.0 (seriously, the code was mashed together in like three hours of real work) of the map editor tonight, along with...

Handheld RPG desperately needs an open source replacement + code monkey for hire

More like Diablo or PSO, although not much thought has been given to how quests should work...

Handheld RPG desperately needs an open source replacement + code monkey for hire

Hi all, I didn't die or give up yet, but I have been super busy with work. Here's a list of what I feel needs to be done to reach milestone 1, and I'll come back and cross them off when they've been accomplished: Graphics fade distant objects with alpha, remove distance fog blob shadows...

    If considered harmful?

I agree with this sentiment; the basic ideas of OO are good, but, seriously, do we need a new fad every month?

Handheld RPG desperately needs an open source replacement + code monkey for hire

I'll just leave this here. :D (yes, I know I didn't quite do enough to hide the pop-in point, and I should be using the shape of the actual frustum to determine what should be drawn, and there aren't shadows under things, but meh, saving some work for later.) Controls: L, R: rotate the...

Handheld RPG desperately needs an open source replacement + code monkey for hire

Hi all, I haven't yet been seized by project ADD and given up yet. Here's what trunk's got at the moment: Note that this screenshot is from my desktop - on-device framerates are averaging about 39/sec, which has me a little worried. If anyone could have a look at what I'm doing and...

Handheld RPG desperately needs an open source replacement + code monkey for hire

It always takes longer to do something than I think it does (whoops). Still no editor, still nothing worth putting into a .pnd yet, but as of right now, this is (some of) what I hope to achieve. (not in trunk yet)

Handheld RPG desperately needs an open source replacement + code monkey for hire

As of this morning (GMT-8), trunk now builds a cheesy little model viewer. It won't build out-of-box on the Pandora, due to a (stupid on my part) missing variable. I've got it corrected on the machine; I'll check it in as soon as I get home. I hope to have the first portion of the map editor...

Handheld RPG desperately needs an open source replacement + code monkey for hire

A small town where the NPCs are all various people from the Pandora community is good; in fact, the more I think about it, the better it sounds. I had some vague idea of it being something like a spacecraft crash-landed on a planet with seven small continents, each with a unique biome (and...

Handheld RPG desperately needs an open source replacement + code monkey for hire

Sure. Very yes. General Gobovich's speech near the end of the first part of SSII is a good example of why the user should be allowed to skip things if they desire. If people will give permission, I think that's an awesome idea. As writer, your first task is figuring out how this would work. ;)
