i tried to use cubase,i put everytrhing in one .st file, but it says it can't find the screen -driver?it makes me selcet between VDI and Quick, but doesn't find them and asks to insert program disk.what exactly am i supposed to do?thanks

not sure about the problem you have but I suspect that cubase will need to run in hi-res mode which kinda skips every other pixel to fit on the 320x200 gp32 screen, hence making the program very hard to use.

maybe skeezix can shed some light, sure cubase will have crossed his path along the way....

ok ,i actually got it to run,i was putting stuff in the wrong folders.that says, the screen look weird, like it loops, one end appears on the other side.i wasn't really able to use it.does anyone else know something i can use to make music on my gp32,or some other midi apps for st?

well, you don't need necessarily a keboard.i was thinking more of writng notes in with the pointer,i don't write paino music.

Protracker on the ST? i'm pretty sure early versions were low resolution (not sure if castaway way would play the samples back properly though, I still don't here samples corectly). THere's also a thread on here some where about Gameboy trackers.

cubase on castaway would be pretty useless because it doesn't generate sounds, just midi information output from the midi port, not to mention the hi-res problems...

sorry :S

Castaway on the GP doesn't run in hi-res -- how can it? medium-res is barely readable.

However, I seem to remember a little program that allowed hi-res mode on a medium-res screen, I used to use it before I got a VGA. The problem is I can't remember the name of the program, just that one certainly exists (and works).

Found it!!

"sebra133.lzh SEBRA v1.33, emulate high-res on a colour monitor/TV"

ftp://ftp.cs.tu-berlin.de/pub/atari/Utils/sebra133.lzh

(This is not a warez site but public domain so please don't complain!!)

I will personally be interested to see how my GP manages hi-res!!

Ok, I know that this is slightly off topic but Castaway runs quite nicely in HI-RES!!

The menu text can be read but the actual fonts are a little hard to read.

I think that algorythms used in this program could be utilised to bring hi-res to castaway future releases. I know that there is little point, but for completeness it would certainly work.

Are you sure it has hi-res? I think that it had low and medium resolutions, and it is the medium resolution that is difficult to read and you are thinking is hi-res.

Low Resolution = 320x200 (16 colours) TV/RGB

Medium Resolution = 640x200 (4 colours) TV/RGB

High Resolution = 640x400 (2 colours) SM Monitor (VGA with convertor)

Look under 'Options' > 'Set Preferences' you will see that 'High' is greyed-out. Hence you need a special program to view high resolution programs on what is basically a TV screen.

I still stand by what I said.
