I ordered my GP 32 monday and i'm looking forward to get it.
But i would realy like to know if it would be possible to emulate Neo Geo console on the GP. Because It seams like it allready possible to emulate SNES an GENESIS. :)

possible? it is possible.

likely? NO. it will never happen. but it's okay, there's enough other stuff you can play (more than enough)

if you want GP32 strictly for NeoGeo Arcade, then forget it. It won't happen, I promise. A good few Snes/Gen ports of NG games though.

Problem is the Neo Geo has possibly the best specifically 2-D graphics, so the lighting would be difficult to emulate and also the sprite are extremely detailed

U can always play King of Fighters and Metal Slug n e way

Plus (the plus!)

the gp32 has only 8meg of ram and the biggest and best neo geo roms are WAY over 8meg.

Even if it was possible the small ram wouldnt be the problem, it could use virtual ram on the memory card, i.e as on Metal Slug 3 playing on an Xbox (64M XBOX VS 78 MS3) the HD being the virtual ram in that case.

Are you guys saying the Neo-Geo ha like 70mb-350mb memory? That is a lot for an old console.
No it didn't the thing with emulation is that a rom is often loaded entirly into memory and then run from there. The gab emulators while not worth bothering with because they are so slow is a good example of this. The smaller games will load while the larger game will not. I would not hold my breath for a neo geo emulator. A majority of the games are to big to load into memory and the system is a bit to advanced. The gp can barley play snes and that emulator is very well written.

Im not saying NeoGeo emulation is possible but maybe clocking @ 166MHz with 32M of RAM would be enough to play old games (Metal Slug1, KOF9x,.........)

see you
