It's not illegal to store it if it's the person's own bios, but it is illegal for anyone else to download or use it...

umm whats so illegal about that?
i mean u cant do anything great with it can u ?

You need a BIOS to use GeePee32.... (Even if you just use File->Load FXE) But any image would work just as well (multiFW/PacRom/EuroFW/offical FW....)

But I won't remove the site, since GamePark is giving away EuroFW betas.... So I don't see what the prob with offical FW would be :)

The firmware that GamePark is giving away is in the form of a FXE, you have to use a REAL GP32 to get a bios from it.

There is a big big difference between distrubting a bios in the form of an FXE (which requires a real GamePark to be of use) and distrubting the actual bios file which can be used by anyone to play pirated games.

Noone cares, you can download mr Spivs firmware and use that. Could everyone get off their high horse about roms and Bios images. If there is even one person on this forum who doesn't have illegal software/roms/bios images, I would be extremely surprised.

Of course everyone here uses roms and whatnot, thats not the issue. Roms for the most part are illegal, so any links to rom sites on these forums are PROMPTLY removed, even more so if its links to GP32 roms. Yet here is a link to an official bios (an illegal download) which allows people without GameParks to emulate the games (commercial included) on their PC.

Somehow that double standard doesnt make much sense.

Yes there are some unoffical ones out there that these same people can use (most however require you to run an app directly on your GP32 so cant be) but a few like multifw can be used, but why provide links directly to illegal image dumps? Thats like saying, well, since someone made a homebrewn version of tetris, I guess its ok to post links to the tetris commercial rom.

who cares, the point of the GP32 is that it's a handheld, and if you can load the Bios up on your computer using GeePee32 it doesn't mean that you are never going to buy a real GP32. You are _severely_ limited when you try and use emulators and games off GeePee32. Not portable, not full speed, and you can do everything that the GP32 does better on your computer. So I don't think that GP32 emulation on your computer means anything, you aren't getting nearly the full experiance.

I am just starting to learn more about computers other than Microsoft Word, what are bios? They are requested on a dcemulation program and i dont know what bios are or where to get them. :(

BIOS:

The set of routines stored in read-only memory that enable a computer to start the operating system and to communicate with the various devices in the system, such as disk drives, keyboard, monitor, printer, and communications ports.

If you want to split hairs every MultiFW out there is illegal and infringes © by modifying & reusing parts of existing BIOS and menu codes. Though even the official (former these days I think) Gamepark devsite linked to my site, which in a way means they implicitely/silently accepted my acts distributing MultiFW..

Don't make me edit that :)

Anyways, I'm not going to remove the link, but I am going to lock it :)

EDIT: I removed the link. Not 'cos I care about the ROM (it's on DarkFader's site, it doesn't cost GamePark any kind of money, and it won't get us into trouble) but because I don't appreciate this idiot using semi-legal software as a lure to get people to come to his site; it just encourages spam.
