Only had my GP32 for a little over a week so it was nice to see it feature in the latest edition of Retro Gamer, issue 2 (page 90). Really been enjoying the read as the guys in the writing team seem really clued up on everything from old school to new gaming. Hopefully more coverage will help the GP32 get some more plublicity. I guess it's not just the unit I'm keen on, but the whole concept of flexability offered by the GP32. I think this is the start of something in hand held consoles. Nice to see the bedroom programmers getting their work out. Thanks to all of them we get to enjoy our GP32 all the more! :)

Well worth subscribing to, you get a free namco arcade stick (the mag subscription is 30 odd quid, and the arcade stick is worth £25 on it's own!). Only problem is the mag is a bit short, I wanted to read more. It would be nice if they did what micromart are doing, dedicated pages to retro magazines saying what is still being developed for these machines (such as contiki web browser/server/desktop for the C64, and there's a cool sonic game just been released on the spectrum!)

Yeah, it is quite a pricey magazine, but the CD is packed with excellent software. Maybe they should give the readers an option of buying without the CD on the front. I can't stress enough though that the CD is packed full of emulators, up to date versions of old games etc. It's fantastic entertainment and I've enjoyed exploring the cd more than I have those that come with PC magazines catering for yet another load of first person shooters.

You could argue that most, if not all, of the software is available online and therefore it's an unneccessary expense. I too think the magazine makes for a bit of a short read, but I'm hoping they'll adjust their article coverage as the magazine establishes its readership base.

Dreamwarbird, I'm not sure if the magazine is monthly or not. I've just looked out the mag and read the subscription offer and there's no mention of how many magazines to expect for the requested payment.

Memnoch- £28 for issue 1! Silly stuff  I'm off to flatten my copy now....

See you all later, john
:)

I know a few people have complained about the price of Retro Gamer but bear in mind there is very little advertising within the magazine, therfore the cover price will increase. Also its aimed at a specialist readership, which should also be taken inot account (though sales figures are increasing, hence it now being bi-monthly).

All in All an excellent read for anyone interested in retro - A lot better than Games(tm) retro section, which concentrates too much on SNES, MegaDrive and Dreamcast.

It's worth the price - so that we can have a professional dedicated retro magazine!

Everyone here should support it as we are all interested in retro. Felt this issue was a lot better than the first and a little bit bigger. I'm not overly bothered about the CD as I can download the stuff if I want anyway.

Didn't think the GP32 article was 100% accurate or very complementary - haven't got it to hand to quote from.

Think I'll probably subscribe as not that many newsagents stock - couldn't find it anywhere in my local WHSmiths - eventually got it in Borders

anyone found any particularly good games on the cover CD's of either issue? I've tried a few but didn't really think much of them....

and thats a good publicity for the magazine.
