some of you may know that i am making a web site. For those of you who dont i am making a web site. I would like to purchase Macromedia Flash to enhance my site with animation, make movies, and make games. on the Macromedia site it said that Macromedia Flash MX was $500!!!! I dont want to pay more for an animation tool than for a GP32. Flash 5 is a little less and flash 4 is down to less than $100, but i dont know if it is good enough to support windows XP and if i can get the full animating experience. does anyone have suggestions on what version to buy or another tool that good and only around $100? It would help a lot. Thanks

Flash 4 is very capable for animation and will be most compatible for viewers of your site.

The later versions add a bit more interactivity and stuff like video clips (which can all be worked around). Oh and they it had a big change in GUI on MX.

...Still go for flash 4 imho.

wow, thanks. do you know where i can buy it where they wont rip me off (like ebay does )

Sorry, no. I thought you said you could get it for $100.

personally I didn't know it was that cheap, but I think I'll pick up a copy in the future if I can find one at that kind of price.

I used flash 4 quite a lot - developing quite a big website (don't click the USA link - silly yanks got someone else to so their site, nicked some of my graphics and made it look shit... But the rest is mine and all done on flash 4). But I haven't really used the newer versions [/I]that much since.

obviously, they are a lot better but that does sound like a massive price difference!!

I'm in UK btw so I don't know where to suggest you buy it. But if you find somewhere, could you let me know?

although i'm a cheap bastard and do this but:
to get it rely cheap, get it illegally *google it:D *warez that is**

But to be honest, i'd go with 4 if you are not really goo dat flash and do not have aot of money, if money is no option, then get MX, i've heard great things compired to flash5 i have right now

Theres this strange telephone # someone told me about that I used before... But it's only for US :) Call 1-800-DIRECT and tell them that you are a student and you want x program. I got VB6 Pro for $100 when it was still the latest VB, and the only difference with the normal is that the EULA told me that I couldn't use it in commercial programs... :)

But I dunno if they still exist?

yes, i live in the US. but i cant use it to make commercial stuff? so can i use it for my site?
P2P what else can I say.
no, tried it - it only gives you the demo ;) .

I was planing to get Flash 4 off of this site. Will i be ripped off?Flash 4

Cool that site is cheap, shame they don't deliver out of the US <_<

They seem legit, as they are selling second hand.

btw: you ever tried mIRC?
