i lost some stuff by deleting by accident, but i have still the .smc data, i've done for trying with the emulator, is there any programm to convert this back to normal files??

any help would be nice

chokobu :huh:

i don't know if there is, or if anybody would be willing to say if there is one, since most pirated commercial games are in .smc format.

I just want to know why everyone seems to think pirated games are in .SMC format. I have a funny feeling that could just be a rumour that has been repeated so often that everyone thinks it is true.

What do you guys think?

Yeah it's true, you can download .smc gp32 rom images from a site which i won't mention here. Its true they work in GeePee, but not on the hardware itself, I even tried them out, don't worry, I was gonna delete them if they did work on my GP, but they don't. I hear there is a method to extract the .smc images, but thats illegal and even if someone knows how to do it, you won't find out about it on this forum, because no-one is going to tell (even if your not afther illegal gp32 games)

You can find something like GP32extract on darkfader's site (search "darkfader gp32" w/o the quotes on google, I'm too lazy to find the link myself) that can convert:

fxe->gxb
fpk->files
zpk->files (still encrypted, so don't worry that you could pirate with this)
smc->files (won't work on H/W if it's commercial)

and mabye some other stuffs, too.
And I only gave you this info because it sounds like you do reall need it (why does it seem that everyone gets mad when someone says .smc?? There are lots of other things that you can do besides pirate games with it...)

The ones that you talk of are demo games

I've never seen them on the web but I have seen them on file sharing networks. It is true, and is one of the main reasons why SMC files are a touchy subject. However, it is ok to discuss how to extract SMC files, as they can also be used for lots of legitimate reasons.

Actually, you're partially right. You can find .smc demos which will only run on GeePee. But you can download full versions of games in smc format. I used them to play commercial games on GeePee before I even got a GP, I played ASR and Her Knights on it and there are no demos for those games. The graphics of ASR convinced me too buy a GP.

I don't have them now but you can still find them on a website which i'll not reveal (even if the games are useless)

They won't work on a real GP32 though, so its pointless, all commercial games are encrypted to your SMC or your GP32.

Maybe a sticky post axeman saying SMC commercial game files cannot be used on a real GP32?

Well the SMC games are really only for the emulator since it doesnt check the encryption. The real "cracked" games you talk about are distributed in extracted form, as a directory containing the game data and two files, GXE and GXB. GXE is the decryption info and you have to use a special tool which uploads it to the GP32 and encrypts it there.
DO NOT consider this message as warez distribution related, I am only giving info how it is. Buy the games and support the developers otherwise the official part of this platform will die.
