Hi i am really wanting to upgrade to the 32 mb of ram so it can run more smooth , Has anyone done it before i know at gp32 sain they have but i cant get acces to the tutoral could anyone copy and paste it? Thanx and waht do you think would you do it?

Blipped4, I thought you knew a lot about computers? Having 32mb inside your GP32 will not improve its performance. It would simply be more space for applications to store data in.

Wait i though GP was already 32 bit thats why its called gp32...or are you talking about SMC ....

aLSO I HAVE A 512 OR 524MB smc but it dont work on GP is ther a reason fo this

cant go over 128MB (I think) and it MUST be 3.3Volt Card... GP32 has only 8MB of Ram....

The gp32 has a 32 bit processor with 8 megs of ram, adding 32 megs would be useless unless you are making some game that only you will use with the extra 32 megs of ram, because nobody else is going to make apps using more than 8 megs.

Even the bios doesn't support 32mb of ram, and so will only configure 8mb, but at least there are hacks for this. Can't helping thinking though if you go through all the trouble of a 32mb upgrade, and then the flash fails and your systems unusable. Now that would be gutting.

Saying that though, anyone doing a 32mb upgrade is going to be a developer (no need for any other reason at the moment), so will most likely have a JTAG cable to revive a corrupt flash anyway.

JTAG cable? Nope, I've got one too. Bought it from CPC.

Ok, so it wasn't a JTAG cable to start of with, but after a bit of hacking :)

When you want to develope for the GP32, and you don't know why your program is crashing, a JTAG debugging cable is one of the essentials.

Squidge, what part(s) would I need from CPC to hack a cable together?
Part no. CN06684, only available via phoning them, and only whilst stocks last, as it's a discontinued product. Note that there's two cables under the same part number - one is the connector with 4 wires coming of it, and the other is a 10 wire cable - which is perfect for JTAG. You can't specify which, so you just need to order some and hope. I ordered 3 and got one suitable cable, a 2 unsuitable ones. With the unsuitable ones though, you can still quite easily break the connector open and place your own wires inside, it's just more hassle. When I ordered my cables about a month ago, they had 50 left. However, since they are no longer in the current catalogue, they may not be sold yet.

mr.spiv: Yes, I got the JTAG software for the PC. My main day job is an embedded software engineer, so it wasn't exactly hard to get :)
