Anyone got any ideas on how to make a mouse for a GP32?? Seen as thers now a Keyboard why not make a mouse to go with it :D hehe...

If you can still get an old serial mouse (or PS/2 mouse with serial converter plug), then it'll be a doddle as all you'll need would be a max232 chip (plus a few capacitors, etc) and then whack it up the ext port :)

Can't use it at the same time as the keyboard tho, unless someone makes an adapter which accepts both mouse+keyb and combines them into one cable for the gp32.

I already mentioned this in another post but, why bother with making a mouse work on the GP32? You can just use the joystick to control the cursor just like you do in Wind-Ups, simple as that :)

Oh and if you wanna move the cursor at different speeds then holding a combination of buttons (eg. L + R) while moving the joystick can toggle speed movement for it ;)

What about using the usb port then you may be able to connect both a keyboard and a mouse

Well, a mouse would be useful for things like GPArt, you can only draw diagnol, and straingt with the pencil now, and with a mouse it would be much easier... What about a touch-screen? Some magnetic sensors on the side of the screen or something to detect a magnetic pen? Or would that mess up some stuff with the magnet?

So, has anyone thought of doing a graphics tablet for the GP32?

Just something i thought of.... doh!

:p

For drawing like rcx21000 said and For games like that Command and Conquer remake thats comming out. Their's lots of uses for it...

Or mabye you could get a matrix of hi-res clear sensors that detect something like heat/light, and the pen emits whatever the sensors detect. Then you add that on top of the screen...

Or mabye make a gyroscope on the GP32, and tape the GP32 to a pencil, then draw with the pencil... Even though that would be a bit top-heavy ;)

What was that hacking game called again.... Uplink... Damn With The Keyboard (and Maybe the Mouse if someone can do it) Uplink would most likely be playable :D Kick Asss...... :D hehe

cos the Fucking US fucking B cant Power anything, the PC gives the GP's USB Port the power it needs (The mouse would need to have batteries...) :D (Or something like that...)

Because, like Steve-O said, The US fucking B port is powered from the PC, and the only use for it is to PC link. Also, the GP32 is not a US fucking B host controller, it is only a US fucking B device. It can be controlled via US fucking B, but not control via US fucking B. It lacks the necessassary HARDWARE, so the process of making it a host controller would probably disable the serial port for any other uses.
So, in answer thecheat's question, THAT'S WHY NOT THE US FUCKING B PORT!

Oh, and I'm not sure whether the word 'fuck' is allowed on the forum, so I'll remove it at a mod's request.

Actually it's a slave device and also an unpowered host.

Well... Maybe somebody came up with this idé in this or another thread but I remeber when I made a DIY "lightpen" on my C64 a loong time ago... it was one light diode and one transistor and a resistor (if I remember correctly). Very easy to do... it registered the scanline witch a TV/Computer makes... could this be done with a LCD? or is it that LCD does not emit anything at all... hmm... that is probably it... OK... if you could some thing that registers on a lightdiode than you could use the JTAG interface to connect it maybe?
