Hey, all, i am going to design a GP32 backlight to install yourself instead of having to buy an FLU. Any suggestions? I don't know if i should use an LED, and i have never actually cracked open my GP32, so i don't know where to solder the wires. I was thinking of straight-soldering them to the the battery- power-out spot thing. As you can see, i've never really done anything of the kind, but i thought there should be an Afterburner style kit for those who cant afford an FLU. I bought the Non lit version assuming that a light wulg come out soon, but i see i'll have to take matters into my own hands... ;)

....hope you have a few spare GPs laying around to test it on. Would hate to see you fry your GP testing it and only having one, but good luck.

hey~that's what i am try to do now!

for the LED i am using the one used on mobilephone and it's ultra bright and three of them!

but the problem is what material can be used as the light guiding plate which can spreads out the light coming from one side through the whole plate and reflect the light to the screen. anyone has any idea?

Sorry to burst your bubble, but reading your post I can tell you will never pull it off.

Only one material in the world can be used. Anti-reflective film. It is only manufactured (in the form needed for this type of application) by one company, that only sells it to other companies. It took Adam Curtis nearly 2 years to get the stuff. The only place you are going to be able to get it is here.

Of course that is for the GBA, and it is probably going to be too small. If it is to small, give up now, since there isn't going to be any other way to get the material (unless the company that makes the FLU will sell the film), and it is the only thing that will work.

first thing i want to say is it is not called "Anti-reflective film" but "light guiding plate"! do some search on google please!

"Anti-reflective film" is a film filters/obsorbs some color in the light resulting less color reflected to your eyes~ it is attached on the top of the screen (the plastic, not the lcd)

but the light guiding plate is sitting between the screen and the lcd to spread out the ligth to the entire lcd. this technology is used by PDA and some big screen moble phone (e.g. sonyerricson p800)

i am try to find that plate from PDA/mobile shop. otherwise i have to make a external light.

p.s. sorry about my shit English, cuz i am not an English speaker.

is there anyone else doing similar thing?

any idea about power source?

i tried to connect one LED to the bettery directly and it is pretty bright, but when i turned on my gp32, it drained too much current so the LED didn't glow at all.

and i tried to connect three LEDs in serie to 3v (two 1.5v rechargable betteries) , it's even darker than with only LED. as learn from school, one LED consume about 0.7v, so 0.7v X 3 =2.1v is much less than 3v and it should be ok, but how come this happen?
anyone know how are the LEDs connected on the mobile phone? because they are so bright and a normal mobile phone bettery is about 5.x v

Ahh, just make yourself a Worm Light. It works good enough for me.

GP32 Worm Light Instructions
where do you get the connector to modify the wormlight? or could you make a USB version so it comes out the top?
No, because the usb isnt powered. I think the part for the conector is either on darkfader's site.... or maybe it was mr. spivs. anyway have a scout around and one of the sites will tell you the part number for u to order one.
