I've been screwing around, and it just might be doable to squeeze an Atari ST emu onto this puppy. Pretty tight fit for any good emu port. (Castaway is a really low compatability emu, though is an easy port :/) I'm goign to merge some of my own ST TOS emu, and STonX for its vdi and such... I done some math and screwing around.. and I think she'll fit :)

Take me a couple weeks probably to get anywhere, but we shall see..

Hi Skeezix

What ever you do I am sure will be sweet, if Xcade is anything to go by. Now that the 2600 appears to be sorted elsewhere your other two ideas The ST and the Dos port would be excellent, I must say how good it is to own a GP32 at this time, and imagine maybe just maybe playing Elite on BBC, where it was originated via Craigs BBC emu

Life is indeed good.

As a GP32 owner for less than a week I have noticed loads of changes and new stuff already. As the community grows things will just get better and better ! Can't wait.....
Hope your ST em comes soon :D Good luck ! (not that you need it hehehe)

Sounds okay - But castaway doesn't seem all that functional - in terms of compatibility(as you said)

But I'm thankful for any sort of port--

So how about the other st emulators ? gemulator, pacifist etc and the various other ones which work if anything you throw at it? - Just thought it may be worthwhile spending longer on a better emulator?

Great news.

PaCifiST is PC assembly level code meaning a difficult perhaps impossible port. Also all these other emulators you list are not released publicly.

It has window ports and Linux port(Linux I guess would be more useful)

The emulator runs st\ste - and is the easiest to use - and it runs everything seemingly - saves are possible etc- I will post up source\any progress asap - - it has been developed under c++ with a bit of assembly -

"Steem's highly optimized scanline drawing routines are written in assembler and compiled using the Netwide Assembler (NASM)"

here is the link - for programmers info --- :D

I think it cool about atart st hope it works and comes out soon, I know there is a atari 2600 coming soon now st very cool keep us informed keep up the work gp32 team

Thats why I'm more using mostly chunks of STonX in my plan; I'm quite fond of it, having hacked around with it over the years. Its just designed to be big and beefy and the GP32 is neither.. so lotsof cutting down. We'll see how it goes. moron is nice, but mostly assembly.. don't wan to touch it. Castaway.. stinker but easy to port. Gemulatgor is closed source if I recall right; PAcifist is also closed soufce, and 3/4 DOS/intel assembly again. Theres a few others.. SainT, etc. Some are just redone Winstons, others are closed source.

So would you be interested in the source code of Steem - if I was to get it? - this is in my opinion the best emulator

Sure, if you get it.. but no promises; ie: Depending how they did it, it coudl be hell to port, or "easy". I'd love to see it though, on the off chance its "the one" true ST emulator.
