Hey guys, first of, good morning :)
Second question.. I've been into the GP32 since it's release and am about to buy one finally now. I'm sorta confused about how they work and stuff, I have about 5-8 SM cards already I think, if not i can buy one.. But either way, what happens when I turn it on? Does it like goto a mini OS like in some of the pics or what? If I download an emulator, will any of the roms I go and download (for that emulator and some other site) work or do the ROMs too have to be ported to work on the GP32? Another question I guess is if you cant do the above what do you guys play for? Also, if I have multiple SMC will I hae to install free launcher on it everytime and install new games and stuff? Also, when I put on different emulators and stuff how do I select each game, and all of that good stuff? If anyone has a digicam and could help me with what goes on when you operate one i'd apreciate it greatly!

Hey! I'm a n00b too so you've saved me the hassle of starting my own thread ;)

/me sits and waits for replies...

The SMC cards must be over 12MB

But either way, what happens when I turn it on? Does it like goto a mini OS like in some of the pics or what?

It goes into a menu which you can select to run commercial games or freelaucher, the mp3 player, or the USB link program.

If I download an emulator, will any of the roms I go and download (for that emulator and some other site) work or do the ROMs too have to be ported to work on the GP32?

Any normal roms should work, as long as they are compatible with the emulator. (Most should be)

Also, if I have multiple SMC will I hae to install free launcher on it everytime and install new games and stuff?

Yes you will, but it really doesnt take that long at all, so it isnt a problem.

Also, when I put on different emulators and stuff how do I select each game, and all of that good stuff?

Most emulators have a built in menu. Read the readme files for the emulators, they usually have information on where to put the rom files.

If anyone has a digicam and could help me with what goes on when you operate one i'd apreciate it greatly!

It is really a no brainer. If you get the GP32 from lik-sang or something, it comes with an english manual. It has instructions on how to copy stuff over etc there.

Hope ive been helpful!

OK,
First off, you have to format the smc cards for the gp32. You can use the usb linker software or download it off http://english.gamepark.com/ . Please note that you have to sign up to get the software. Also, you can get freelauncher of that web site. I think you do have to put it on every smc card, but im not entirely sure if it goes on the smc or the firmware, as I dont actually have a gp32. You can download a mini os like winups (found here). I also think that goes on the smc, but windups already includes freelauncher so you dont need to put on both. Read the readme's of the emulators to figure out where you put your roms after you format it.

I think thats it. Hoped I helped.

I'm buying my GP32 second-hand and didn't think to ask if it's been registered... will I not be able to access the utils if I don't have the registration details?

well, you could go to #gp32 on efnet and type !applist and you can get the software there without registration. Ofcourse im not sure if this is legal, but alot of things arent legal, like looking out of an airplane in Alaska and looking at a moose (note this is true, so dont do it ;) ).

beebul you can re-register it your name, i had to do that as well so i could get pclink and and USB drivers
