What files do i need to have sound on sam & max on my GP32?

or is it not possible.

im not botherd about the voices i just want the music.

It's very possible, but you need to do some renaming of the game files... I think its essentially *.S01 --> *.001, *.S00 --> *.000 or something. If there is no .S00 file, you may also need to rename them back one number (i.e. S01 --> 000 ) But that would surprise me. It's something like that anyway...

I dont have any .S01 files

i have

SAMNMAX.000
SAMNMAX.001
SAMNMAX.RSC
SB16.WSD
SBCLONE.WSD
SBPRO.WSD
TESTMIDI
TESTWAVE
ROLAND.MSD
PAS.WSD
MONSTER.SOU
GMIDI.MSD
FM4.MSD
FM2.MSD
ENSONIQ.WSD
EMIDI.MSD

and a load of .exe and .txt files

Which ones shud i rename??

Right, in which case yours may not need to be renamed at all (although I know mine did... can't remember from what to, thouhg - oh well).

Just copy over the lot bar the exes and see if it runs. If it does, great. If it doesn't, then I got the renaming the wrong way round, and you need to rename .000 --> .001 and .001 --> .002. But try it with the list you just posted first. Also bear in mind that the Monster.sou is the one that contains voices. It'll also contain other sound effects for the game, so if you can, try to find Monster.sou from the floppy version, as it will fit on the SMC fairly easily, and you'll get talkie for the intro, and sound fx throughout. There's no music in it though; that's somewhere else (although not sure which file its actually contained in)

I have copyed all of the files over appart from MONSTER.SOU and the game runs but with out music :( can any body polease tell me why??

OK this is simple.
all you need are two files unless you want sound then you need 3 files
you need
SAMNMAX.000
SAMNMAX.001
for running the game. thats all no others.
but for sound you need the monster.sou file which is too big to fit on the card. at the moment you can fit disk versions on with the sound files. but djwillis is updating the scummvm engine to get .ogg files to work meaning you can compress the .sou to a smaller size to fit on the card.

Yes - You don't have the sound file - Until the Scumm program allows sounds to be changed to MP3, you won't get music - Nor will you get speech, only limited SFX... (SFX if you use the Floppy Disk version of the game, that is)

Hmm... I was fairly sure it was only digitised effects that were kept in the Monster.sou file. Evidently I was wrong. Or at least, I was if when you get a floppy version on there you get music.

BTW: You *can* get music at the moment, for all games except LoomCD and possibly the CD ver of Monkey Island 1 (both used the ScummCD system, where music was stored as tracks on the CD).

Sam and Max didn't, nor did any of the other Scumm games. And music for non-track-type things is enabled...
