did anyone have any difficulty with ordering from play asia as i think i will buy the gp2x off of them and i would like to hear your opinions first.

Should be fine, main problems will be a) if you have to return it it will be expensive and B ) import taxes.

could you estimate how much would the import taxes cost?

I have had only the best experiences with them, got my first GP32 and the GP2X there. At the moment I am awaiting another parcel from them. There have never been any import taxes for me.

Depends on where you live.
In Germany, you have to pay 30% customs (for electronic devices) and 16% VAT.
If you're lucky, you don't have to pay anything.

Ordered 3 GP32 from LikSang, where I needed to pay for two of them.

PlayAsia are sweet, but if you have doubts just use YesAsia.com, because they're almost just as good.

I have bought several times from both Lik Sang and Play Asia and they have both been great service wise. I have found that sometimes I have had to pay tax only on larger items. I have had 2 faulty items from Lik Sang but in both cases they sent me a replacement free of charge.

Do the supplier (playasia) apply it before or at delivery?

You're welcome. But remember! YesAsia only pay for it, if you order over a certain amount of $.

Perhaps you could email or call them about ordering one in for you?

Is this 30% import tax applys to all the imported electronics, regardless of the source country?
I am currently in Germany and considering of getting one GP2X online.
Will the tax be the same if I buy it from play-asia.com, from US or UK retailer? Thanks!

There is usually no tax or vat for EU deliveries, I think...

thx for all the help people!!

i live in ireland so it should be fairly cheap if you dont have to pay tax in the EU

Exactly. Within the EU, you only have to pay customs when you import something from outside the EU.
The VAT is the one from the country you order from.

So, e.g., if you order from he shop.gp2x.de, which is located in Germany, you pay 16% VAT. However, the prices shown in the shop are already incl. 16% VAT.

AFAIK it's the same thing in all EU countries: The shops show the price incl. VAT (that's also the reason Lik Sang or PlayAsia is so much cheaper - they show prices without VAT and without customs. All shops offering the gp2x show prices incl. VAT and they already paid the import taxes...)

ok, on play asia it says it is 134 euro i think so if i were to buy it off of play asia i would have to pay tax on it and it will go up to the same price on the gp2x online shop? which is around 200 euro inc. shipping.
