Kernel Access Found In 2.5 / 2.6 Psp Firmware :d

Time to go out and search ebay for the cheapest psp ever!!!! O wait, sony will have yet again to ruin peoples fun :(

With all due respects Steve-O, this is absolutely boring news, because with the strong popularity of the Nintendo DS lite, SONY PSP will be deemed a failure in portable console history.
SONY should try their luck again when Microsoft releases their portable system.

No good news for sony, lot's of people are buying the psp just to run homebrew or pirated games with the bootloader. :p

I thought you worked for Sony?

Anybody who gets disgusted occasionally at this forum or our community should go read that thread. :)

Start at the end and read backwards, it's more fun that way.

Haha, yeah. The PSP community is pretty amazing sometimes. That's why I bought a GP2X. I'm not interested in ISOs (I better not be... Sony pays my bills...) but I love homebrew and emulators. And now I love my GP2X.

Working downgrader released. You can now Downgrade any PSP from 2.6 and below :)

i hav3 a 1.5 n a 2.6 it mak3s m3 happy n sad b3cause i will hav3 the latt3st hom3brow on a 1.5 n on a 2.60 n wh3n it g3ts 3mulat3d with d3vho0k i will b go0d b3cause i can go 2 2.70 n hav3 a 1.5 but in dat oth3r hand i think sony was expecting this n now sonyill mak3 th3 n3xt updat3 b block3d so no mat3r wat sony will b ah3ad but i no that the hom3brow comunity will 3nd up wining

You're right, reading backwards is more fun.

And has anyone else noticed how PSP users swear a ******* huge amount?

It is excellent news for psp owners. As much as i hate the dpad on the psp, the screen in 4:3 mode and button feel and quality more than makes up for it. The latest PSP snes emu is far better than the best on GP2X at the moment.

Everyone thats bashing the PSP probably have never played one before....

The PSP is a fantastic device, but if you want to play new commercial games, you have to give up homebrew. I'm not too keen on buying a second one just for homebrew and having the possibility of it breaking or whatever and then having to hunt for one that's downgrade-able. I would love for Sony to open up the device to user created software (running in non-kernel mode of course) but I don't know if that's going to happen. They have hinted at it. They have stated that they will do so on the PS3... we'll see if that actually happens.

Can you run umd movies through something like that? I think I may downgrade if so, I never did like the 2.0 eboot launcher. How about the web browser?

Yup, the Web browser works 100% and you can play UMD Movies

Its mainly just complete 2.5 Firmware Emulation for 1.5 PSP's :)

Even the Location Free thing can be started!!!

Give it a few weeks and 2.6 Emulation and possible 2.7 Emulation will be supported (Because of the Kernel access in 2.5 / 2.6 that has been found they can get the decryption keys and apparently 2.7 use the same keys)!!!
