Breakout Boards

I think that might be a audio-out jack for headphones/pc speakers its placement could be construde in either direction due to placement
Possible. What use would we have for a second headphone socket? Or am I missing some obvious point?

Ahh.... <_< well...
Maybe you would like to use your PC speaker set for a MaME arcade box, but the included headphone jack doesn't like the speakers overly bulky plug beacuse of the placement of the interface...

Wasn't Craig going to put up some sort of review?

Also any idea when the smaller, cased version will be available? (I don't want it to snap in half when I'm taking it somewhere)

Can I ask.. if your TV-out chip is broken will you be able to get tv-out using the BoB? (I'm guessing.. No.)

Cool, looking at the pics on the other sites it looks like your need another power brick if you need to power the usb. One prob, your have to create some kind of stand for the gp2x. Mine at the mo has the usb and power plugged in and i'm using the battery cover rotated around to create a stand. Works really nice but I so want this BOB! Just can't help thinking it would not give me anything extra..........

Will this mean we can plug in a joypad in the USB connector and use it instead?

There is a gadget which makes a SNES controller compatable with USB, would this work on the GP2x, and map all the GP2x keys completely? This would be great - especially if it can be supplied as an upgrade option (complete)...

In Theory :) wont know till we get one ;)

And even then we might not know till devs make it usable :p

I am not quite sure whether to get one of these or wait for the later cased versions. I could really do with JTAG but not ot the prospect of a bare circuit board lying about :/

If you have a MK2 GP2X, the BoB can be powered through the EXT port. If you have a prior version of the GP2X, you must use an external power supply for the BoB. The DC-in socket is the small black socket next to the red audio socket. You can use the same type of DC adaptor that you use to power the GP2X.

To the OP, if TV-out did not work with the standard TV-out cable, then it will not work with the BoB either.

Does this mean that I have to have one DC adaptor for the GP2X and use another for the BoB if I have a Mk1?

The MK2s can supply more power through the EXT port. Refer http://dev.gp2x.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=172 and some post by Squidge or craigix in one of the other threads about the GPH BoB.

Depending on the output rating of your power supply and how much current the BoB draws, you may be able to supply both from the one power supply. Given that the BoB can be powered from the EXT port on MK2 GP2Xs, I would say the current draw isn't too large.

all i would want is a very small bob with 2 functions: tv out and joystick connection for 2 player gaming on a tv.
i could care less about any other function. i think besides developers that would be the only reason most people would want one.
