So, Has Anybody Tried The Bob Yet?

Well, Play-Asia is selling it.

I didn't know Craig said he'd do a review this weekend. I'll keep an eye out for it.

There's a cased version and an uncased version. The uncased version is called the "developer" version, and includes some stuff the cased version doesn't.

It means they only have to pay the tooling costs for creating the case once, and considering a lot of developers like ripping things apart anyway... :)

Yeah, the bare developer's edition is essentially the exact same thing. Considering that it's cheaper, and that you can just put it in your own little enclosure if you want, I'd think that it'd be best to get it over the commercial version (Though some people would rather pay extra to get a professional enclosure, which is just fine).

aah, the last time nobody answered my question. Are there going to be 2 Bob's? One from Techfreak and one from playasia? I'm confused :p

aha, ok.

to repeat my second question: This is th result of the coorperation between techfreak and gph?

Edit: another question: will there be an option to only buy a usbhost cable (to connect hd's etc) without all the extra stuff?
like this one: http://www.gp32x.de/board/index.php?showtopic=29323 without the Serial I/O

Yes, and not likely.

Rather than having a rigid board attached to the bottom of the GP2x, making the whole thing unweldy, how about supplying a short (6") cable to connect to the GP2x external port and the BOB board? Anyone who wants to make their own GP2x case could then do so quite easily, by having the GP2x motherboard back to back (separated!) with the BOB, encased in a case (plastic/wood/paper mache/etc) - and a proper D-pad could be incorporated - a complete system!
