Gp2x Or Psp

If you mean the diagonal lines (which you must, because there are no others), you can get rid of them by moving the slider in Settings->LCD. Moving it to the left solves it for me.

This is just a flamewar of misinformation which just escalates because of the fact that everyone wants to say "My system is better than yours."

In all reality, if you really want to spend less, it would be just much cheaper to get a GP2X. End of story.
Seconded. Seems like mostly everybody who owns a PSP probably has never touched a GP2X, and believes most of the crappy, misinformed reviews we've all seen flood the web these past months. In the few posts here from people who own both consoles, we can see that they are two machines designed for different things. Choose which one suits your needs better. <gp2x fanboy mode ON>I've never used a PSP myself, but I really can't imagine its screen being better than the MK2's. I really cannot regret having chosen a 2X instead of the PSP.

the screen on the psp is a lot better then this scanline filled monstrousity

that stuff about recharging is bull, that only happens because most users dont tun it off but put it on standby
The Mk2 has no scanlines, the mk1 isnt very noticable with the right settings. The recharging is not bull, I had mine on full, a month later sitting on my self umoved, I couldn't switch it on.

All rechargable batteries of all chemistries do this, and all lose all charge at about 1-2 months... nothing new at all.

Is there anyone that has experienced homebrew on boath psp and gp2x to the fullest and can say the emulation
Is more enjoyable or more functional on one or the other? Can you say the homebrew in general is better and/or has more potential.

Just answer me this.

They also have a very Large number of emulators running fullspeed with sound(snes!) and are further along on emulation then the gp2x on "most" systems:

Apart from SNES and N64 (and that's hardly playable), that simply isn't true.

They have a larger number of emulators per se, because there are millions more people with PSPs, however they are nearly always NOT as good as the equivalent on GP2X. Megadrive, Amiga, Neo Geo, MAME, PC Engine, c64, etc are all emulated better on GP2X.

If you only want homebrew, the choice is obvious. Better screen (esp. for emulation), better controls, better battery situation, and truly open source. The fact that you're still leaning so heavily towards a "cool" PSP after reading the facts here, tells me that a niche handheld like the GP2X is probably not right for you.

Please, keep homebrew and emulation seperate. Homebrew is generally used to refer to original games developed by people in their freetime and released for free. Emulators are different because they are designed to emulate older systems. They aren't creating any new games, they are instead offering the means to play many older commercial (and possibly homebrew) games.

Emulation roundup: gp2x vs. psp
psp - snes is better
psp - N64!
gp2x - neogeo!
gp2x - MAME is better
gp2x - PSX!
gp2x - genesis/megadrive is better

These are my experiences with the gp2x and psp. There are many other differences, but these are probably the biggest deciding factors.

I find it rather ironic that the GP2X is a better portable Playstation (PSX) than "PlayStation Portable"
I'm not sure if we will ever get full speed (As someone suggested earlier), but even just playable half speed would be good.

I also think that in a few years there will be a "PSP2", and all the PSP owners will get one in a flash.
Whereas the GP2X will keep getting better, even after the predicted GP3X. It has already happened with the GP32.

Hmm....what's wrong with the PSP's Neo-Geo and Genesis emulators? The Genesis one looked perfect in the video (Though the sound was replaced by some crap rock song). Exactly how well do their NGCD emulators perform (You know, ours isn't perfect either; at 274mhz I still encounter slow downs)? And lastly, do PSP emulators force you to stretch the screen and change games out of their native resolutions (Everybody says that the PSP screen is bad for emulation, and this is the only reason why I'd think that it could be bad, but judging by the video this doesn't seem to be a problem)?

Let's keep this as civil and un-fanboyish as possible :)

I think he was refering to NeoGeo AVS/MVS which PSP only has a early version.
That is exactly what I was referring to.

About genesis/megadrive:
Maybe they have a better emulator now, but the emulator that I tried on the psp a couple months back was nowhere near as good as DrMDX

Was it significantly slower or something than DrMD (Have you seen that PSP emulation video that was posted in this thread? Was the Genesis emulator that fast when you tried it)? Could you be more specific? And did you try the Neo CD emulators?

It wasn't incredibly slow, but it was definitely slower. It also didn't have as nice of an interface as DrMD (I know a lot of people don't care, but I do, and I think your average user does). I didn't try the NeoCD emulators because AES/MVS is IMO much better.
