So its my birthday in two days, my GP2X has already arrived (courtesy of gp2x.co.uk) but I am not going open it till my birthday. However I thought it would be useful to get an SD card ready. So I bought an Adata turbo 2gb card and card reader at the weekend and they arrived today. When I plug it in to my laptop its says it cant read it or format it. I try it on a friends new swanky printer thing, still no luck. I phoned the shop (adata are so stupid the dont even have a single call centre anywhere in europe) and they are happy to send me a new one.

Only problem is that probably wont arrive till monday. So now I am going to have to wait another few days!

How bloody annoying!!!!

Hey when they send you the new one, do you get to keep the old one? I'd gladly buy it for postage ;)

Nah they want me to send it back after I get my new one.
Why do you want it anyway, its broken. Unless you know some magical way of fixing it... <_<
They want the old one back after you get the new one? Just say you lost it ;) I'm not made of magic, but I have lots of card readers laying around -- maybe it will work with one of them.

So your saying it might work with a different card reader?? Does that mean you think I should wait and see if my GP2X can read it and format it using that??

You have it all wrong bro. NO company will replace merchandise by first sending you the new item, and trusting you to send the old one. That's just horrible business.

Just get the new one, and that's it. Dont bother with this one, as it may very well be faulty.

I did think that it was pretty stupid to send the new one out first but I was talking to the manager and he deffinetly said we will send you a new one with a pre-paid envelope for the return of the old one.

companies do it all the time. I had an $800 sat reciever that Sony did this with. DirectTV does this all the time as well (of course if you don't return the original in 30 days they charge your credit card)

I have done this with many companies as well...although they usually require a credit card. They'll make a tiny charge (a few cents) on the card initially...I guess to make sure it is legit...and then sent you the merchandise with the premise that you will be sending the defective part back. If you don't, well, they'll charge you for it!

Go to a local chain with a no-questions-asked return policy and buy a 512mb or 1gb card and return as soon as you get this sorted. Just tell them your PDA/camera didn't recognize it, that should work.

If you just got it isn't it a mkII? Run stuff off the NAND, or just play the included? Vektar, it shouldn't kill you.

Here is an idea, connect to your PC, go to settings, select Nand as storage device, turn on USB connection, drop a few Sega MD roms and the latest Emu on there, play and be happy.

(the GBC emulator is absolutely the best portable way in the world to play GBC games, better by far than my brother's GBA SP, and tons should fit in the NAND.)
