I really happy that there is a new release but i was hoping it would work better with the donkey kong series T_T Donkey Kong Country's speed is really erratic and Donkey Kong Country 2 level 2 doesn't work because the fog is black T_T

Also could some1 pls explain to me what the new options is the 'settings' section do (Transhack-A and Fastsprites)?

Also do u guys think my settings are the best possible?:

full screen - yes
Show FPS - no
Vsync - no
FPS limiter - yes
transhack????? - no

FRAMESKIP 3

Fast Sprits - no

and the rest are defult : p

What should I change to optimise speed and quality? ty ^_^

You could have posted this in the actual Squidge Snes thread ;)

In anycase
I'd turn on fast sprites and VSync.
Maybe increase your frameskip to 4...

If you are wanting more speed, you could overclock a little (and reduce the frameskip)

Although i don't know this for sure, judging by the name, I'd assume that transhack is a hack to attempt to get transparency working (basically a workaround, it's not doing it the "norma" or "proper" way) .

If you have graphical problems with a game, enable it, otherwise leave it disabled.

I really wish you could just turn off the layers you don't want-- the ones using transparency. This would make games where transparencies are broken, playable again. I wouldn't mind graphical issues if I can play the game!

I think you can . . . try holding down both volume buttons at the same time and pressing the face buttons (A,X,Y,B) . . . I seem to remember that switching on/off the layers . . .

Fast Sprits - no

I personally use this as YES because it makes alot of roms run alot faster. ^^

same goes for trans hack.. if u put it on it makes soem games faster.

Mario World gets a chunk or 2 from both of these and is playable in the previous version at fs1 200mhz with sound. [some slowdowns when there are lots of badguys on teh screen]

Actually, Fast Sprites is broken in this release. Turning it on or off won't affect a thing, unfortunately.

Oh, k lol
I have also noticed that when 'volume max' is displayed after turning up the volume, it is displayed in the middle of the screen and occasionally it dicides to stay there until u change ROM.

'transhack' was my attempt ages ago at transparency - it basically tried to guess which layers were meant to be transparent and then attempted to draw the transparent layer by skipping every other line. It works well in a couple of games, but there are a lot where it just plain doesn't work.
