Hi,

thelamer just pointed me to http://www.mantisbt.org/, which is an open-source bug basher system.

What do you devs think? Should I setup a subdomain and install it there?
Is anybody here who'd use it?

Well, I don't care which program I install - I let you devs decide ;)

I just want to offer a free platform for bug bashing.
This can surely be used for larger projects :)

I think it's useful for people to be able to report bugs and suggestions on certain programs, and for them to be collected into a database rather than splatered around a forum. Much easier to find them, and of course that means more chance of the bugs getting fixed or the suggestions getting implemented.

Is there anything that can handle both bugs and suggestions at the same time?

Flyspray has an option to create you own bug report task groups:

e.g. Bug Report, Feature Request etc.

You don't think it's even worth it to keep track or bugs and features for certain releases rather than having them scattered around a forum?

Perhaps for a big team, don't know... For my projects I just put all the bugs I heard about in a file.

As a maintainer, what I really want to know is what commits are related to what bugs/tasks.

For this I used cvstrac and it was very good (severall configurable types of tickets, integrated wiki, and of course CVS tracking).
