I was wondering if anyone knows the best config options for MSlug 1-5 . As of now I cannot get anything to run full speed with sound even at 11250 sample rate and overclocked to 250mhz .

So far

cmdLine=./cpu.sh 250 ./gngeo -Crashes to menu
cmdLine=./cpu.sh 250 ./gngeo --sound -No sound
cmdLine=./cpu.sh 266 ./gngeo -Crashes to menu
cmdLine=./cpu.sh 266 ./gngeo --sound --samplerate=11025 -No Sound

Anyone have a succesful config for MSlug 1-5 they would like to share ?? Preferably one that works for all of them at 250mhz (266 is okay too)

i am using the latest version (but not the encrypted rom fix). oc to 266, sound sampled at 11025. no raster effects. it's very playable...if it's not fs0 most of the time then i just can't tell. do you have the volume down all the way (probably not, just checking)?

edit: i should mention that i've only tried the original metal slug and also metal slug 2. ms2 is a little choppier but the first one is nice.

How do the graphics look on Mslug 3 and 5. All of them run at pretty good speeds for me, but I overclock to 285mhz. It's just MS 3 and 5 have graphics problems. The sound is fine. I guess I need to find a new romset, but I tried so many different versions and keep getting the same results. If people are getting good graphics than it's just my rom sets. Could someone please let me know what romsets they are using so I can compare? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If The graphics aren't "garbled" in mslug3 or 5 then its probably because of the number of layers the graphics reside on. I remember it being mentioned sometime ago but none had answer to the problem. Most likely the problem is either in gngeo or in the implementation for the gp2x. Either way Im sure if its fixable it will be address soon. As far as my settings ./gngeo --sound --system=unibios --cpu=230 --bitrate 11025 /pathtorom. I have a script that generates these scripts :)

Cool , so metal slug any version does not run full speed unless the sound is disabled . I was glad I could confirm that .

With sound disabled and OC'd to 250mhz everything looks good but Metal Slug 3 . What is the deal with 3 ??

Is thier just no good way to do the graphics dump ?

What? No.
Metal Slug 1, 2, and X run at the full 60 FPS with my GP2x's ARM920T at 299 MHz, with sound at 22050hz. Runs at 60 FPS almost all the time in the high 80s. At 250 MHz, it might not. Try 266. Also turn down the samplerate to 11050hz, it won't sound quite as good but should run significantly faster.

Bear in mind the Metal Slug titles SEVERELY stressed the NeoGeo hardware they ran on. The REAL machine lags too! When you see 'bullet time' slowdown where everything smoothly slows down, that is true machine lag. Only choppy jerky movement where lots of frames are dropped is your GP2X lagging.
