Re2 On The Gp2x

Yeah, that much I knew. But playing with frameskip 1 in emulators isn't that much of a difference for most people. Only real hardcore gamers yab about frameskip 1 not being smooth enough ^^. I read in one of these gp2psx threads about the PS1 (the real machine) playing all games at fps 30, is that true? I don't think I saw someone neither confirming nor dementing it? In that case, it feels like the dream might come true one day :)

2d games are different than 3d games with respect to frameskip. 2d platformers, for instance, usually feature sprites with movement animations of only a few frames. skip one of those frames and you might ruin the illusion of movement...characters run backwards, enemies magically teleport, etc.

but 3d games are rasterized on the fly from polygons whose locations are constantly updated. so if you lose a frame it's no big deal since the next frame is "perfect" in the sense that it will continue to create the illusion of motion. i'm assuming that it was for this reason that square decided to cut the framerate for some of the parts of games that might lag otherwise.

so i'm hopeful about playstation emulation, as it seems everyone is, and one reason is that a lot of the games probably won't suffer from skipped frames.

heck - movies are shot at 24 fps anyway.

What really bothers me is that almost all results posted here are made on units OCed to 280MHz, I wonder how will it look on units that don't go that high. For example, mine can go stable only to 255MHz in gneogeo on 2x2500mAh Energizer Acus...

I made a Armored core: Project Phantasma video. :)

get it here.
Or watch it on Youtube

Man, that game is running at that really good speed because is running at 290Mhz, not all GP2X reach that mhz easily (or much time...) :S

I made a Tales of Destiny 2 video, the game runs very nice, with interlacing enabled it is even faster!

The video shows FMVs, ingame cutscenes, gameplay and battles from the game. It is captured With a TV card from the TV out of the GP2X.

It is in 2 "scenes". The second scene (later ingame) runs much faster because of interlacing enabled, but also doesn´t look that good.

Watch it here on Youtube.

How can I beta test this? I have a GP2x, a 4 gb SD card, a TV out cable, a Pinnacle Systems DC2000 capture card with Svideo capture capability, and a bunch of PSX games already ripped for this. I have already provided a couple compatibility reports on the GP2PSX wiki. I have several games that weren't even tested on there yet.

it was marcus brigstocke, and he said "If Pacman had affected us as kids we'd be running around in dark rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive music."

the second beta will be open.

Thanks for the info. I guess I should research my quotes more carefully next time! By the way, how did the author pick the first set of betatesters for this PSX emulator?

Why did you upload videos of games that don´t work  ?
They´re not exactly exciting to watch, plus if someone who doesn´t know the GP2X as we do watches the video, he´ll think how shitty the GP2X is.
