Hi!
Does anyone know if I need to remove my batteries from the GP32 when I use an external powersource? I remember having a portable CD that just had the EXT. Socket connected to the batteries which led to a melted piece of plastic due to the batteries being charged by the battery elliminator.

I guess the only way to be sure is to take the GP32 apart and have a look, I didn't think of looking at this when I repaired my FLU :(

The GP32 uses some type of simple switch for Direct or Battery power. When you turn your GP32 on, it will try to use Direct first, then Battery if Direct is not available.

This comes from my own experimentation using an AC Car Adapter. Plug the GP32 in to the car and then turn the car off will power down the GP32 with the power button still "on". Turn the GP32 off/on and it will not come back on unless batteries with sufficient charge are inside of it.

I have my batteries in when using AC/DC adpater.
Don't ask me why... Cuz i don't know myself. To lazy to remove them i think.

It should be fine to leave them in. I leave my batteries in my discman, gp32, and various other electronics when I use the DC adapter.

You can leave your batteries in its fine :)

The power plug on the gp32 has a switch which turns on when a plug is intserted saying use wall power and not battery power.

i'v accidently pulled the powerplug out and it goes to battery power and it's fine but of course when u swap power sources the gp32 freezes :p

so yeah if the power cable falls out you will have to reset.

Thank you for all your answers. :)

I have been a bit paranoid since my Sony Discman apparently required me to remove my batteries. Left it on while going shopping and found a bubbling and smoking piece of plastic when I got home. Fortunately it was placed on a glass table. :)
