Do you believe PS3 and Wii can co-exist in the next generation? I mean as one being a premium system and the other being a budget system like DS and GBA? Yes, my example may be flawed, but I think, with proper support GBA could enjoy some more life, although Ninty seems to have their hands full juggling between Wii and DS. Or, DS and PSP seem to position themselves as that setup; one being $250 jack-of-all-trade machine with $50 games while the other being $130 game machine with $30 games.

im sure that many people that have a xbox360 or ps3 will also get a wii, its a perfeckt 2nd console (or 1st for me).
ps3/xbox360 will have a hard battle at the beginning with ps3 comeing ot as clear winner while wii will be the lucky 3rd and win overall in the end :)

I gues installed base by 2008 will be ds closely followed by ps3 and wii long time nothing than psp followed by xbox 360.

That answers your question. Wii is aimed at another audience, plus nintendo hopes many people will have a Wii as their second console, because its cheap.

This has already been discussed numerous times, but i think there´s a good chance the Wii won´t have to rival the PS3, the main competition will most likely be between X360 and PS3.

I look at it in the same way i look at my PSP and DS situation. If i want supreme graphics and games that technically could never be on the DS, i use my PSP, but then the DS has it's first party games that will never see any kind of remake on the PSP and the games that make good use of the 2 screens and the touch screen.

So many people bash one or the other, i think they both compliment each other very nicely.

But as for the Revolution(wii) and the PS3, i think it will be the same thing. They will compliment each other nicely, but i have a feeling the controller for the Wii is going to be a huge flop, which is going to hurt the system. But thats just my speculation.

I agree with Angel in a way. The price is a factor but I dont buy the consoles for its price / technology alone :p. I mean come on, how do you know the technology is there without the games utilising it.

If all next gen systems have games which utilised the technology they have been made to run on + gameplay action, I will buy all the consoles. (Well, will try to :p). They will be able to Co-exist because each will have a uniqueness of thier own.

I think we should focus on the actual games coming out (and companies making them) for the consoles instead of Cell/Controller stuff cause you most likely wont see it at full use at the consoles menu screens (No game inserted) -_-

The battle I believe also will be between Xbox360/PS3 cause they are very similiar consoles in my eyes and so they will have to market a "common" product in different ways and see which one is the best.

EDIT: Love your avatar Angel :D

I personally think that since the 360 and PS3 are very similar in specs, and controllers, that they will have the same games, excluding a few titles, while the Wii will rarely see ports, so people will probably get a Wii as a second console if they have a 360 or ps3, instead of a 360 or ps3 as their second. Wii is my first choice though.

The battle'll be between Ps3 and 360, and it'll be the software that does it I think. However, the ps3 will have the advantage of two letters which have caused sony much greatness in the past.

LOL. And microsoft already failed in japan with the 360, which means the ps3 will actually be battling the wii, since most people over there get 1 system and support it. I really want to see the outcome.

HOLY CRAPOLA LOL! Sony copied nintendo ROFL! LMAO! Motion sensative controller.
XD The Sony press conference is ending. HOLY CRAP!
$500 for 20GB model
$600 for 60GB model.

That was bloody hilarious, not only did they copy Nintendo, they took credit for it claiming it as an innovation! That's some daring shit.

Although, if I was being fair, it wasn't a Nintendo innovation either, I have a motion sensing controller for my psone. I think Nintendo's implementation of it is going to be the innovation.

I have to say though...
THat metal gear solid 4 trailer brought a tear to my eye. It was AMAZING.

Seriously, i wont spoil it, download the trailer the first second you get. Snake... Oh god. Really well done.

it's $499 and $599, the funny thing is, it's still cheaper than what the CD-I and 3DO and Neo Geo cost at their respective launch, but nobody pays attention to the facts, they just bitch and cry about how expensive it is. Expensive, maybe, but it's not the most expensive game console ever made.

$500 is no surprise, I know I saw it coming. but godamn, they reallyripped off the Wii! I mean seriously- I don't even think they have an excuse! they redesigned that terrible boomerang controller and just threw in motion sensors. I don't believe it... its so damn blatant. wow.

An another note, smart of them to make hdd's standard; I'm still reeling from 360's unwise decision

You might actually have a point there if those 3 weren't commercial failures. The Neo Geo is the only one you listed that was successful at all, and then mostly as an arcade platform. The AES was and is a niche console.
