Ok, just got off the phone with GP2z, friendly too, they said that production was going to stop in mid April, and resume in late April, early May, with some changes to the joystick, and possibly something with how it handles USB. Now, anyone gots something more contrete? I honestly am wondering if I should hold off on getting mine.

I'll just move it to the general section ... it's a rumor, since no real proof was offered ;)

There's lots of hints about this in the GPH support board. At least now, my chances of buying a GP2X will be higher.

Just edited, and first of all sorry for the bad grammar. Secondly, Z and X are right next to each other, I would think you'd guys would be able to see that I was talking about the USA distributor.

Don't be so critical. And don't shoot the messenger either.

Anyways, I take it there is no info?

I DO remember Craigix saying that they're going to stop for a bit so they can get a new screen, and something about the joystick (but that something could be a "They're not changing it") on IRC a while back.

Allan.

Not to be critical, but just so you know, the US distributor is "gp32z.com". So it's not natural to assume that somebody typing "gp2x" (the name of the console) actually had a typo for "gp32z".

Hmm, if it's true this is good news, looks like they are refining it. I hope they do change the stick either to a better stick or a d-pad would be even better.

Thanx,
Stan

I doubt it, they are probably just having trouble getting the current screen... That'll probably be all that will change...

[rumor]I've ALSO heard the supply of 'good' LCDs has dried up and the replacements may not be so nice.[/rumor]

Bad joystick or LCD...your choice.

Where'd you hear that the new ones wouldn't be as good? They'll probably be similar quality sourced from somewhere else.

IIRC existing Gp2x displays are GP32 BLU+ displays. You could just replace yours if you hated it for some reason. And odds are most things out there are better than GP32 gear. :p
