GP2X Dragon Force Clone Anyone?

Rico, as you can clearly see from this Wikipedia link, there is no way the GP2X can possibly emulate the high tempo complex melodies of DragonForce, let alone the epic nature of their lyrics. Perhaps by virtualizing the DragonForce auditory experience we might be able to produce a satisfactory recreation, but to truly capture their epicness would require years of effort and perhaps much better speakers.

So I’ll tell you the same thing I tell everybody else around here, think before you post or I’ll have to come over there and cram Wikipedia down your throat.

This post is sarcasm; if you didn’t laugh you have no sense of humor.

Does anyone else actually read these threads? From the word go Wipeout wasn't suggesting we emulate the Sega Saturn at all. He was simply asking for help re-creating one of his favorite games from THAT console.

Now everyone has gone and turned this into a "Saturn is impossible" thread... which it was never meant to be. I feel bad for Wipeout.

Wipout, what kind of help are you looking for with this game? Coding / Graphics ?

Anyways... can everyone please read before the flame!

Right. And LJ didn't say it was possible to emulate it, he said it may be possible to 'stimulate' it. But I'm sure he meant simulate ;).

He edited it to say that, since he was certified 100% stupid in the following posts. Just read wipeout's quote of what he said; it says 'emulate'. I mean, if you can be ridiculously petty and try to edit a post in vain for a feeble attempt at lessening your stupidity, more power to you -- but don't try to do it when someone quotes you! That's hilarious.

edit: hmm, I wish my Saturn was in working order... :(

LordJohnnie is probably the most creative and entertaining troll I've ever encountered.

He's a master of his craft. Changing his posts and then arguing based on the changed versions is one thing, but changing them to make no sense at all and then still arguing the point is just plain genius.

LordJohnnie, I salute you (but I'm glad to see you get banned:p)

Anyway...
Wouldn't it take lots and lots of time to recreate an rpg like this? The story would have to be rewritten comleptely. How about making an attempt to create a kind of RPG engine that will allow users to create games (think rpg maker 2000) in the vein of dragon force? That way somebody could write the engine and others can take their time in releasing whatever games for it. Or am I talking complete crap here and we really really truly need to stimulate the saturn (I wonder if it's even female) to get the game running. and what are we going to do after the saturn has finally climaxed? WanX??? whatever...

Now you're talking. Make an RPG maker. I'm hoping to get going on this soon. I've been working on an RPG maker for PalmOS for a bit -- 3D isometric scripted in LUA. It hasn't gotten that far yet but once I manage to get through the GP2X/linux learning curve I'll hopefully have something to show for it.

now that sounds just sweet. I am sure a lot of people would appreciate that.

Hmm... might be a tiddle awkward to make a Dragon Force RPG using anything remotely similar to RPGM2k; it's much more like a super-advanced version of Risk with several types of troops, non-instant motion between places (different armies move faster or slower depending on iirc their Hero and the troops in the army), differing commanders, and a story that is a little changed for each character.

I'm fairly sure you could have alliances too, but not certain. Either way, it's NOTHING like any traditional RPGs you'll be thinking of. Nearest obvious thing to compare it with would be FF Tactics or Tactics Ogre, though since I've not played either for more than about 3 minutes, I couldn't say for sure how close they are...
