well you know, ive been out of the loop for sodding ages now, but im (hoerpfully) repurchasing a gp32. ive checked a lot of the FAQ files but they seem to be severely outdated. Whats the state of emulation liek now? I hear its all about DrMD...

If anyone could quickly summarize how well each system performs, with a recommended emu, id be a happy bunny :D

What were you using while you had a gp? DRMD is indeed awsome, amazing emu. MAME is also great if you enjoy playing older arcade games (tempest is da sheeeeeit).

ljgp is still the best nes emu. Rlyeh updated his gbc emu and a few others (msx too i believe) for last years coding compo; gbc is now flawless. Reesy updated the sound in yoyo's snes emu; speed is still poor but sound is much better (if you play with v.3 with no sound, you will have full/near full speed in most games). gpengine is still the best pcengine emu. all in all, not many improvements on the emulation front (i dont know how long youv been outta the loop)

I don't have a gp2x, but I've heard good things. Perhaps you should put your $$ towards that? I do think its a better investment; the gp32 scene is all but dead now :( Hopefully Rlyeh will get around to fday, but i doubt it at this point

both metroid and tetris attack are not playable (s l o w), but to be honest, i have yet to try them out with no sound in v.3. The sound in both those games (especially metroid) is too damn good to play withough though imho.

Don't re-purchase a gp for snes; its ok but not great. if you were familiar with osnes9x, you should know what to expect. Megadrive, on the other hand, is excellent; near perfect with sound, and very customizable

really? well i shall have to check them both out then. Sounds pretty good to me, most of my favourite snes games are RPG's with one or two exceptions, so it should hopefully be all good. If anyone has any mroe tips, id love them.

the gp32 still feels a more well put together handheld compared to the gp2x.

The DRMD emu feels and looks just as good on the gp32, and if you find one which can be overclocked to a reasonable level, then snes emulation should be close to the gp2x one. (I can overclock my gp32 to 250mhz, but my gp2x won't go above 242mhz!)

Don't forget Reesy's superb Master System emu! That's definitely one of my faves.
