Alright just as the topic says I need to get some dust out, some MAJOR dust.

The problem is that I can't seem to get the screws in the back to twist, they are in tight. Is there anyway to fix that?

Or would some sort of frontal attack be a better idea?

The damn screws are a pain in the ass. I FINALLY found a tool that fit. Add that to the fact that they are overly tight, and you get a headache.

keep trying to get the screws off. I personally dont suggest going in from the front as it may damage the screen or border.

HOW DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING?!?!?!

But really, be aware and make sure you don't strip the screws... they're a bitch, plain and simple.

Hmm, I managed to unscrew them but the something got stuck in there and the thing would not open. I replaced the screwes but now my GP2X is a bit creaky, staying ajar most of the time :(

Will have to give it another try soon.

Is this tool anything special? Could you tell me what it is and I go buy.

Oh yeah and this dust has been there for like a month now, its just I have been to lazy to post it.

Problem with the balloon trick, first off I have LOTS of dust.

2nd of all my whole screen is sticky, so it will just pull it up and stick to the screen.

Where's the problem with the screws?
I open up about 10 gp2x a day and NEVER had any problems with a standard screwdriver?!?

However, removing the screws is the easiest thing.
You then need to remove the board (don't forget to remove the stick cap).
To do that, remove the middle frame first, then the board (be careful about the loudspeakers, the cables come off ease... and the ribbon cable of the LCD!)

Unplug the ribbon cable, remove the plastic frame with the hole for the headphone.
Then you'll have a problem: The LCD is glued to the frame.
(First Edition: Only at the bottom. Rest: At the bottom and Top).
CAREFULLY remove it.
Then you can try to remove all the dust.

Then reapply the LCD, and assemble everything again.

You still sure you want to do this?

Shit no way now, thanks so much.

Idk my screw driver must just be crap, maybe used to much.

Well I still want to get that dust out some how. I was thinking of taking a Vacum cleaner to the front of the screen and pulling it off. Cuz this dust is REALLY annoying.

Maybe I could just smash the old one and buy a new one?

reallynotnick - no point using a vaccuum cleaner it is unlikely to have enough suction! Don't smash the old one - you will damage the LCD scrren below and then your GP2x will need replacing.

Someone posted a while ago that you could weaken the glue on the front screen with a hairdryer, and then pry the sheet off - give it a go, and let us know if it works. Use compressed air to get rid of dust if you get the front cover off - no risk of causing damage.

Yep, that was me. Should work.
