I'm trying to get Outcast to work. I have got the 1.02 us tos that I have renamed TOS.ROM and placed in the correct folder in the SD Card. I have also several automation discs in the same folder.

Now when I start Outcast it boots up and shows me the available discs. I choose one and put it in drive one and then press X to fire up the Emu. Then nothing...

I just get a white screen with a black border at the bottom. I have waited and waited but nothing. Am I doing something wrong?

Got formware 1.21 btw.

Cheers

The only two things I can think of is to check that the tos.rom is in capital letters or maybe in small letters.

The second thing is to try something else than Automation as I used to have trouble with many Automation discs, especially with those below 100.

I've checked the tos file and it's in capital letters so that should not be it. I'll have a go at some other .st files later on although I get the feeling I am doing something wrong as all of them result in a blank white screen.

Thanks for the help.

If it sees a mixed case, it'll try to use it anyway; ToS.RoM shoudl be fine, but dont' do that ;)

Tried which disk? Tried others?

Does it give you any warnings or errors?

Need to know specific disks :) You never tell an auto mechanic "I have a problem", you say "I have a problem with my muffler" ..

Or, try A_133.ST (Automation 133) which I use all the time, for instance; known to work :)

once i place a game in either A or B I fire up the emu and click the appropriate disk but theres bunch of files. which one is the one to fire up the game?

Look for one ending in .PRG

Many crack groups used menus, so you wouldn't have to do things; if you get to the GEM desktop (green background with folders and files and such), then you use the mouse click buttons to run .prg, .tos and such..

tried several discs including 133 with Xenon. Same result on all of them, a white screen with a black border in the bottom. Nothing happens...

Could it be the tos file? or is that definitely ok if I am able to boot the emu?

any other ideas? It should work fine with firmware 1.21 right?

It's brand new and I have barely anything installed on it, do I need anything else before I can get Outcast to work?

Thanks!

Could be a bad or wrong TOS; aim for TOS 1.02 or 1.0 or the like .. TOS 1.4 and TOS 2 and such aren't really well supported.

A_133.ST (and variations) work well (as do most disks :)

Yes! It was a bad Tos file. Downloaded a new 1.02 and now it works excellent!

Thanks a lot Skeezix, really really nice emulator you've made.
