Ok, so Im looking into diving in full force into DC emulation. But I haven't a clue where to begin ;)

I just would like some opinions on where I can start, download, etc, what's the best stuff to use, and how to use it all.

Thanks guys, Im looking for all the help I can get

ps: I joined DCemulation and asked there but im getting some, uh weird responses from the locals. hehe

Heh, I remember when their board was black and scary. They all seemed pretty friendly though.

get alcohol 120, to use to burn the discs, so far its the best program to use to burn because you won't have to do anything special to get the disc to auto boot when powering up the dreamcast. Worked perfect for me when i was doing BOR on the dreamcast. Haven't tried any emulators.

nba 2k1 is kicking ass right about now :D . But for some reason it only plays when the dc has been shut off for awhile and therefore not hot...hmm. Otherwise if i was playing something like skies of arcadia and then try to play this it acts as though there is no data. weird

anyone else have this problem?

no, but i got you beat for Dreamcast weirdness. My Dreamcast will only play Shenmue if i flip the entire unit upside down and even then it only plays for maybe 10-15 mins before it resets.

well at least im not alone. I bought this game one ebay for $3.98 shipped so when I contacted the guy you can understand that he had a bit of an attitude. I had only tried this game after trying nfl 2k1 as I got them both the same day, and it wouldnt play at all. a day later I figured i would try this one last time before shipping it back- and it worked. But now I realise it's being schizophrenic and not playing when the system's hot. Oh well :(

At least shenmue is working for me. Great game so far btw.

a cd burner
isn't it amazing
the dc homebrew scene is cool when you first get into it, but it get boring
idk why
but i bought an xbox and loved it so much more
there is so much more software for it

doesn't the DC laser burn out quicker if one uses CD-Rs in it?
What a brilliant bit of music industry propaganda. Make people worry copies will wear out their player. What they are saying is the equivalent of : If I shine a torch at a cat, the torch will wear out more quickly than if I shine it at a dog. How can the material the light beam is reflected off affect the light source ?

Well, CD-R's aren't as reflective as pressed CD's. Atleast PS2's are reportedly wearing out faster wit -R's. I quess it needs to use more power in the laser, thus heating up and wearing and tearing.
