Oh my, it seems i'm an idiot, but i'm not.

Newely formatted 1GB SD

drmdx.gpe on root directory

made a roms\megadrive directories under root (no mistakes, no capitals)

put zipped roms under that dir.

unsipped some roms and re-zipped again nd put those under that dir too.

startup my GP2X

startup drmdx (loads perfectly)

Let drmdx look for roms, and auto-create the romlist on the SD.

My roms are visible onscreen

As i select a rom, i get a "unzipping rom" than the screen goes black forever.

I checked this a lot of times no mistakes, formatted and reformatted the sd, over and over, zipped, unzipped, overzipped, whatthefuckzipped the friggin roms...

BLACK SCREEN.

ANY SUGGESTION?

Does just this emulator not work?

Have you tried any other roms? Do these roms work on a PC genesis emulator?
What are the names of the roms?

i flashed the FW to 1.10 but as i never used drmdx before i can't tell if it's due to thenew FW.

c64 works
amiga works

it seems i can't play .AVI videos, getting a "format not supported" with the 4/5 avis i tested

megadrive roms working on pc emulator.
i tried less than 10 roms, but as i ALWAYS get the black screen.. i can't believe it's rom's fault

rom names.. some examples..

Ghouls 'N Ghosts (REV 01) (JUE) [!].zip
Mortal Kombat 3 (4) [!].zip
Shining Force 2 (E) [!].zip
Dune - The Battle for Arrakis (E).zip

and so on..

How are your AVIs encoded? Did you upgrade the firmware your self? If so, did you apply the patches?

i tried to put zipped and unzipped under roms\megadrive but i get black screen.

i upgraded to fw 1.1.0 myself, than rebooted the console and run the only patch i was suggested to by the readme file, than rebooted.

AVIs are as they came from the p2p download. I admit i didn't studied the whole thing, but i presume that .avi extension doesn't mean it's a REAL avi.. i'm guessing right?

But i really don't understand WHY drmdx doesn't work, as, apart from FW1.10, my gp2x is standard, settings standard and so on..

anyone can mail me a small game rom to fachiro@alice.it, a rom that actually you have played with drdmx so i'm sure it is not a rom fault?

thanxalot guys

Which zip program are you using? If it's not winrar, try again using that, as another user reported the same issue that you're getting, which was solved by re-zipping the files with winrar.

I read the other error report here:
http://archive.gp2x.de/cgi-bin/cfiles.cgi?0,0,0,0,5,986

(look for benniboi's comments).

he said he already tried them unzipped...

but anyway yeah don't try zipped smd's in drmdx until you get the regular ones working. could it be the card? i know you said it was newly formatted, does that mean you formatted it yourself? i was having problems because my card reader was crap and i had to reformat my card a few times before my 2x recognized it. also, i'd format using fat32 before anything else. so before you give up hope --

format your card again, using the little windows format dialog. set it to fat32. backup your other stuff if you like, but not drmdx - install a fresh copy of that. also try and get some different roms. unzip them, don't overclock, yadda yadda. make sure drmdx has a folder in the root (for storing saves...the actual gpe does not need to be there).

don't remember, i must check, i think i've used winace....
i will try winrar, hoping it'll solve the problem.. it's a pity i cant enjoy drmdx, everyone tells me it's really good..

tnx anyway, i'll let u know

I had a quick look at winace... everything about it screams 'avoid' to me.

yoz dude I have the same problems as you for the Drmdx. Tried with my friend's sd card with his roms it works. Tried with my roms on another sd card doesnt work.
So i guess it is still the roms.. Currently downloading new roms set will test them out..

As for the .avis.. have you tried repowering the gp2x?on->off might work

so now i'm goin to re-zip using winrar.
if that won't be enough i'll get some new romset and try again.

regarding the avis, i tried to power off than on again, but i get no supported format message again with 5 avis over the 5 i tested, damn

i wonder if it's SO difficult for gamepark to compile a friggin movie player WITHOUT idiot issues :(

The only two supported formats are DivX and XviD, with resolution up to 740x480 or something. Best idea is to get something like PocketDivXEncoder (choose the PDA profile) and re-encoding it.

re-zipping with winrar was useless, black screen.

using different roms i just downloaded from different sites was useless, black screen.

mrdmx is beating the shit out of me :(

maybe a different sd card brand?

So.. finally i fixed the problem and i post it here so no one have to get mad about it.

i changed SD brand.

Seems that my INTEGRAL 1GB SD card prevents mrdmx to load roms and work.

I tested SAME roms on SAME console with SAME 1.1.0 FW with SAME mrdmx GPE file but all flashed on a SAN DISK 1GB SD card and magically mrdmx loads roms and works.

This is definitely a compatibility issue and should be sticked somewere

I'll use that integral sd crap for my nds o gbm ;)

CYA MATES

My Integral 1GB card works FLAWLESSLY with my 2x. Always has, with firmwares 1.0.0 and 1.2.1. There must be something strange with 1.1.0.....
