Hi all, downloaded, extracted then put quake 1 on the sd card, when i try to run qlaunch from the root of the sd card the screen goes black for a few seconds and returns me to the main menu, if i try to run quake in the /quake dir the screen goes blackand stays like it, ihave to turn the 2x off. Any ideas on why this is happening and how to fix it? Im pretty sure sdl installed fine.

I had the same problem at first so I tried the original pak files from the CD. The original pak files work but the ones I originally tried were vispatched and would not work. Now, I just crash only when I enter water. Is this crashing in water a known issue or do I need to search for different pak files?

It's a known isuue :

If when you swim in to the water, you will be put into the GP2x menu, it's juste a small problème. To avoid this, you have just to have in screen the weapon barre (see the capture of the game in this page).

From yhe wiki : Quake at wiki

tkz > Check the installation section of this page...and if everything is correct, just try with some .pak taken from another versio...

Yup, that fixed it......thanks. I just decreased the screen size setting so that the weapons display appeared and now I don't crash in the water.

So, it appears that the original pak files directly off the cd work fine it just doesn't like the vispatched pak files.

I found a quake .pak called "pak0.pak", put it in the quake dir but getting the same results, do i need to rename it, or is it a wrong .pak file?

It is the right one (probably), but you must move it to the "id1" dir in the "quake" dir.. if it doesn't exist then create it and put it there.
If you want the full ver. of quake you woud haft to find "pak1.pak" and put it there to.

Is there any place where the original .pak files are hosted? I don't have a Quake 1 CD, and I want to play this, but all of the "free" versions don't contain .pak files that work. Alternatively, is there any place where you can order new Q1 CDs? Or will I just have to try my luck on ebay?
