Is it feasible to make an adaptor that will take the GP2x connector out to a small box to provide both USB and video connections?

I would like to be able to hook up to a TV and a decent controller / game pad or keyboard to play on the big screen.

If anyone can help point me to a plug and socket connection source for the GP2x or part numbers and manufacturer I will have a go at the soldering. Will need help with drivers later.

There are already efforts underway at making a breakout box.

Toyz4Boyz are apparently working on a breakout box, and there is discussion on a German GP2X site about a breakout box.

There is a page on the wiki about the ext port. Cheapest source I found for a single connector was a mobile phone data cable of ebay. The wiki page has the details about which phones use the same connector as the gp2x.

The serial cable wiki page is also useful as there is an image showing which pins the solder tags on back of the connector match upto. Saves some fiddling with a multi meter.

Making a breakout box is easy enough to do yourself. Just get a small project box and fit the connectors you will need. I also fitted a small section of breadboard with a row for each pin of the ext connector.

I posted a thread about this a while ago. I even looked into getting it all powered.

Its possible.
