I read this article today: http://www.dansdata.com/gz011.htm

Makes sense to me. I know there was a problem with nicads a decade or two ago but I've been pretty troubled to see people on here advocating the whole discharge-charge cycle as if it was gospel when most of us are using NiMh batteries. Like I say when I refuse the carrier bag at the supermarket checkout "every little helps."

NiMH batteries don't suffer the memory effect as much as NiCD batteries, so you should recharge them when they are no longer useful, and never store them in a discharged state. They discharge themselves over time anyway, and if they discharge too much, you can cause a chemical change which could permanently reduce the capacity of the battery much more so than the standard capacity loss.

Craig: Unless you have loads of shopping (and no, your weekly tin of beans and daily box of coffee do not count as loads of shopping), what are you going to use the other bag for?

And er... never seen people talk about discharge-recharge.

Craigix obviously wants to "double bag" his beans and coffee -- that is put one bag inside the other because they are that incredibily thin he is scared of the bag splitting on the way home. Obvious really :)

In France they make you bring your own bag. I know because I went there and ended up carrying all my shopping home. That's right, I went to France. Scary, isn't it? Honestly, their entire supermarket is dedicated to wine, garlic, cheese and packets of biscuits with squirrels on them. Nasty French people.

hahaha for some reason i read "nasty french people" in gollum's voice like "nasty hobbitses"...haven't seen the movies in a long time though
