Most everything I read presumes I already know basic linux manipulations. I need a real basic guide for the non-programmer generalist.
What I am trying to do is get a Go game from a Linux-Go page (GNUGO) and make it work on the GP2X. I figure this is a good exercise.
I will go read alllll the other stuff here, but some basic walk through of taking tar files and making them GP2X ready would be appreciated.

Thanks all.

Mike

There is someone already taking a bash have a look in the development threads. They seem far from finished have a look see where they are?

I'll take the time to teach you all that is necessary to port it. Doing this will take up a large portion of my time, so I would require about $100 to do it. PM me with your credit card information, and I will make arrangements with you to make this happen ;) .

lol how about you provide me with a GP2X ready version of gnugo 3.6 and I will pay $25 through paypal for the 10 minutes of effort it will take you?

I do want to learn and I appreciate that people need to earn, and I am happy to pay for stuff. If you make a GP2X version of GO you might well have other buyers.

It seems I can't fool you, so I'll let you in on a little secret . . . I can't really help you port the program or even do it myself. I just wanted your credit card number ;) . Don't tell anyone! Maybe I can fool someone else, heh heh heh heh heh.

gnugo is making some intermediate executables that it tries to run to generate some f its code. I tried to tell it to use the i386 compiler for those, and the arm compiler for the final product, but it didn't listen, or I told it the wrong way. Anywya 10 minutes are up, I'll have to look into it later, if ever. probably have to make two passes over the source

If you really want gnugo, it's probably easiest to have it compiled by someone who has the compiler suite working on the gp2x itself.

Just supposing I ever get my GP2X to actually function (I haven't the spare funds to buy a proper SD Card from GP2X Sales department yet because I have to pay off two credit cards. Oh wo is me.) I would like to know where an absolute beginner games maker should start. Is there a recomended book for those starting from scratch? In other words; how does a non-programmer become one?

Hey. I'm not a GP32 user. I'm a GP2X user. Will that thing on the left ever get fixed? Confuses me no end.
