Ok, so after waiting over Christmas to actually get my delivery (I was away from Uni where it was sent to :S), I've finally got my hands on my GP2X.

Thing is, I've now realised that it's not as easy as I thought it was to sort out initially. I cant do a thing with it!

Before anyone says so, I HAVE checked FAQs and the forums for answers but I dont see anything specific enough.

As stupid as it sounds, could someone please give me a detailed walkthrough (like, idiots guide to the GP2X) of what the hell to do from the point of getting the thing out the box? I've formatted the card correctly, and tried to put a few files on there, but I honestly dont know where to start. Nothing seems to be working for me. If someone does this for me then I'll just format it and start again properly.

Please help or this is a waste of one hundred and whatever pounds because of my current ignorance! :-/

Great user guide in pdf form located here!

I would suggest baby steps..
1. Format card with fat32 using a card reader
2.Place mp3s and jpegs on card, try to view.
3. Place a simple game from www.gp2x-emulation.dcemu.co.uk (maybe tiles...something not sdl)
4. Get the SDL libs, install.
5. Try super_methane brothers (test of sdl, and its cool!)
6. Now you are ready.

I'm new to this GP2X got it last week and i find the PDF to be the most help (the one from the link above i assume).

Then all i did was download the genesis emulator (DrMDx) and read the readme included that pretty much tells you how to get it working.

One thing i have noticed though is you must read the readme for all the emulators/homebrew because at the moment alot are early in development and need specific setting up. Also i hear the SDL Library is a good thing to have on there.

Did you know that you can also read the readmes on your gp2x? Thats right so if your like me (jump in with both feet and hope for the best...then reluctantly read the afore mentioned readme) its a great help. Not only that but if the program has some sort of debuging output you can usualy find it and read it on the gp2x as well.
