So when the XGP comes out will this thread be split? I don't think I want a XGP and probably won't want to talk about it. I doubt people will specify if the thread is about the XGP or the GP2X in the Topic Title, some are very vague as it is. It would be nice if I wanted to talk about the GP2X then I'll go to that forum, if I want to talk about the XGP then I'll go there.

Thanx,
Stan

Edit: Oops, I meant splitting, not slitting, that's almost as bad as being vague.

Nobody knows when the handheld will be unveiled but on 15-th January Gamepark will release more info and hopefully the relase date and the final design will be unveiled then.

well considering the xgp is commercial only from what i have heard what would be the point of it? talking about commercial games or something. its not made to do emulaion and the like. just my 2 cents.

that really has nothing to do with what he said.

but i also think the forums should be split

Yes, lets please split the XGP and GP2x, as its combined right now. Its stupid, just remove the xgp part of the forums until an official word. There are only 2 posts about it anyway.

I realy cant hear that anymore, gp clearly statet that it will come with "open sdk" whatever that means in the end, its definitely not closed.

With that in mind, why did GP/GPH split up in the first place? It's all seeming a bit contradictory

Change of opinions. It's been said several times. One half of the team wanted a low priced open source free to develope for yadda yadda handheld. The other half wanted to compete with the PSP and Nintendo DS.

I was wondering the same thing - it would seem a bit difficult for people, once they are both out, because there would be 2 concurrent similar but different conversations taking place in the board and it could get very confusing.

Currently, the forum layout is a little confusing. I had wondered if perhaps it would be better if the forum front were in categories of GP32, GP2X, XGP, Other Handhelds and General.

Then developers corner, specific projects and specific discussion (eg. mame) would be be boards under those categories, then with subboards for things coming under those categories (eg. a mame board under specific discussion).

Just a thought. For a while, I had missed the development forums for the gp2x not realising they were there, as I thought the gp2x category was all there was in regards to it.

Yes, the forum layout is currently a bit confusing.

And yes, GP2X and XGP should be split, but only after GamePark give out more info. Then there would be more people talking about the XGP and polluting our GP2X cheap open sourceyness.

The XGP should be erased from forum's titles entirely imho. This handheld isn't available and there isn't much info about it too. We can not be sure if it even will ship...

For now it's only a vapor and it's only confusing people. This is unnecessary. GPH and GP are now two different companies and there isn't a reason (except historical) to link them.

This all imho of course.

This isn't the GPH forum though. hando isn't paid by GPH to favour one or the other, and it's up to him if he wants to maintain interest in the XGP.
