i cannot upgrade my firmware to 1.2 i think it may be cause of the nand lock program. i uninstalled it, unlocked tried different combinations of it, no money.the green boot screen says fw 1.2, but the info says 1.1 still.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

If the green boot screen says 1.2, then the kernel update worked. Now, you need to have both the patch(...).gpu and the gp2xpatch(...).tar.gz in the root of your SD card; then, run the patch(...) from the utilities menu. Now, you should see most of the new improvements.

dont forget to put the deault gp2x skin back on if you have a custom one or it wont work
WTF?
U sure about that? It sounds like bullocks to me.

Yes we are sure, that is why we said it.

They went to a 4-way select and swapped NAND and SD in the menus.

I heard the skin pack has changed in the new version so it expects to see the original (1.0.0 or 1.0.1 or 1.1.0) skin pack before it upgrades.

I would put it back to the original before I flashed if I were you.

Read twice, flash once, saves everyone headaches.

ok guys, i reinstalled the gph skin, tried to reinstall the firmware, and nothing. i recall reading that its supposed to give you 4 way movement on the menu. i never get it.

How do i remove this fucking nand locker. i know thats whats causeing it, i had to unlock my nand to install the skin. It seems to start everytime my gp2x boots. How do i REMOVE it, since the uninstaller seems to be complete trash?

well, if you can do a kernel update, you can use djwillis's unbricking guide to reflash the nand to default, and then apply the patches?

Do you get a 'Firmware Upgrading' screen if you boot with gp2xkernel.img on the root of your SD? If so, you can upgrade.

i do, but as i said, the info still says 1.1.0, and the images are still on the sd. Also, i get none of the "features" that the 1.2 firmware are supposed to have.

I feel really nice today SOOO I am going to make you a really easy to understand guild on how to do what everyone has been telling you too.

1. Download this file http://www.gp2x.de/cgi-bin/cfiles.cgi?0,0,0,0,42,1121
2. Unzip it
3. The contents should be gp2xkernel.img gp2xpatch-1.2.0.tar.gz and patch20060105.gpu
4. You have already done the kernel so we don't have to worry about that
5. Take the gp2xpatch-1.2.0.tar.gz and patch20060105.gpu and put them on your SD card.
6. Put that SD card into your gp2x and turn it on.
7. Go to 'Utility'
8. Then run the patch from there

There you have all the features will now be added.

OK. Just in case we some mac users having problem. If you use StuffIt Expander you have to go into the preferences and uncheck "Continue to expand if possible". If you don't the the gp2xpatch-1.2.0.tar.gz file gets expanded to.

:x aww. Ok, i Admit. im retarded. but we all have those days.

The only reason i was fighting it was cause of the nand locker. i had to unlock the nand every time i wnted to do something, such as - change the skin -. which made me beleive that it was fuckin' up the firmware. even still the uninstall is gay'd.

And to that guy miyu, that made the nand locker - maybe you should get the program to make a BACKUP of the original rc.sysinit - NOT YOURS - that way the uninstaller can backup the original eh?

Anyway, thanks fellas. sorry for being such a bone head.

I didn't put my skin back to the original like I was supposed to. I missed reading that bit. Luckly my gp2x is fine. I wish they'd fix the real problems on the gp2x like the booting times and the lcd screen, its still shows the lines.
