Here are the video encoding settings for 3GP_CONVERTER to compatable AVI's for the GP2X.
Just copy and paste this to a txt and save it as \3GP_Converter031\default_setting\Transcoding_gp2x.ini
Here is the link for the app if you dont already have it 3gp_converter site.
You'll have to select "GP2X divx group(27/12/05)" in the setup.exe to get it to use the new settings.
These settings will work with ffmpeg for you Linux users out there.
Enjoy.

I've just tryed out the lowest setting, you can go much lower than that if you want to mess about with the settings.
I'm used to watching movies on a GBA with the Playan, and boy what a diference divX and the GP2X makes.Great quality movies!!
Remember, post you best settings here.

The audio and video are out of sync on some of the files. Also, the audio quality isn't too good when compared to the original file (I'm using the highest settings). Do these problems have to do with the settings or the converter program itself?

Am I misreading or is this just a commandline frontend?

Also, what the dickens is the mp2 audio codec?

It's todo with input video, I've found that if the input video is compressed in a funny way you get the audio out of sync alot of the time. (dont know what compresion dose this, only some of the videos I've downloaded rarely do this).
Also if your working with your pc while 3gp is converting, this can fudge up the audio sync too.
As for the sound quality, its set output is 384kbs, 44100khz, in sterio. So I'm thinking its your input video is causing trouble.
Dont know how to fix it, save from using uncompressed avi to get perfect encoding.

Yip commandline frontend for ffmpeg, and mp2 is mpeg2.

I just use win avi converter, and convert whatever it is (even if its avi) to avi in a 320 x 240 viewing format, and my videos come out perfect.

Well I take that back if its mpeg, since alot of mpeg movies go out of sync for me
