I'm not sure how but I have managed to lose the joystick on my machine.Any ideas as to what else I could use instead?I know there is the old GP32 one but any alternatives would be nice.

This is timely for me because I just went through this today. The stick over time will become loose and slip off when you least expect it. Just some words of warning to those are not aware of that. I did manage to find my stick later in the day(whew), but not before freaking out and looking at all my old controllers to see if they could be easily modded to fit. Speaking of which I did try with some limited success the retrocon mod, but due to my inexperience with a dremel tool made my sticks unusable. You can check the sticky gp2x problems mega thread at the top of this forum for some more ideas that people here have come up with. I really hope that replacement sticks will be offered by gph or some other entrepreneur in the [beg]very near future[/beg].

I'm pretty sure it's *somewhere* on these forums somewhere (but searching for 'n64 ...anything' is a nightmare here  ), triton hacked a 3rd party n64 stick onto his, and it looks pretty sharp.

here

If the stick is as bad as advertised, I'll be the next one going this way. Probably be trying to do mine a little shorter, though. It's a very quick and readily available fix for a misplaced stick.

i still use the stock stick most often tho, need to replace the hotglue with epoxy or something, it gets a bit flexy if it isnt on all the way, and stuff

My friend phoned this morning and said she had found it.I had actually thoght of doing something similar to the above but no need now.

If you lost it at why dont' you just send it back and get it fixed. I dont think losing it will void the warranty

Huh??

"I lost my gp2x - now can I send back the empty box and get a new one?" :)

Well, considering that the closest thing we have to official sources recommend you loosen the stick for it to work properly, I think lost sticks should probably be covered by this sort of thing. Especially when you take into account that the stick in general is just one great big design flaw!

I was lucky enough to happen across a Retrocon for £5 in my local indie, unfortunately some late night drunken Dremel action means that it's leaning downwards slightly, which makes it a bit tougher to hit down-left on the pad. I'll have a better go with the other stick when I'm in a better frame of mind with more time on my hands...

He lost his joystick, not his gp2x.

I still doubt that will be covered by anything. if I were craig i'd laugh in your face
"Loosen your stick, it'll be better!"

"What? It's fallen off and you've lost it? INTERNET LOLZ!"

Wow. Congratulations for not taking the post in the spirit that it was intended in. By taking issue with the first "quote", do you fully acknowledge the existance of the second one? Whereby Craig rains down the INTERNET LOLZ from high atop Mount Cashmore, where he counts his winnings from a day's evildoing by using the power of suggestion to make people lose their sticks?

Lighten up man! ;)

i dont recall him saying "loosen your stick, it'll be better!"

Well, he did officially endorse cutting the bottom part of the joystick off so it sits lower on the metal base, and you'd need to take your stick off to do that, so this would be along those lines.
