Apparently there's a vynil layer on the bottom? Oops... I sort of missed it and put the protector on. Now I can't get it off. Any safe/non-warranty-voiding tips for getting it off?

Not that I can even see it when the unit's on. It just bugs me.

My unit came with a removable protective layer on the LCD itself (with a big red tag attached to it), so I removed that. The plastic screen has two layers one it, one on each side. The adhesive side one is easy to remove. The outer side layer is a bit more difficult, but you should not have to open up the unit because it is on the outside.

Yeah, I didn't get it on the adhesive side... unless you mean that paper thing. :p

It IS possible, though you may scratch the gp2x a bit.

I used a small cutter knife.
If you're lucky, you'll find a space between the protector and the gp2x where it fits. CAREFULLY try to lift the screen protector.

Alright... I figured it'd be something like that. I'll try later. If it doesn't move easily I'll just live with it. :p

You can use a heat gun (or hair dryer) to carefully heat the screen. Keep it a good distance away and heat it slowly. The screen should lift off very easily if you get it hot enough, but be very careful not to overheat it. Clear plastic will melt easily.

wait how did you get the protector on the underside? the part the paper is stuck to is supposed to be the unprotected side with the adhesive that sitcks to the cut out in the 2X. the exposed side is the one with the protector on it.

There is no vynil layer on the bottom.

I`m 99.9% sure that he is on about the clear film that covers the LCD screen, Yes, The on with the BIG red tab and a triangle stamped on it. How could you miss that.

Never mind... I must have misread. Either way I still want to get it off. The bottom is a little dirty and there's some dust. Not that it's even visible when it's on, it just bugs me.

unfortunatly the only way to open it is to pry it offwhich means you'll probably need to reglue it after you get it off and the shell will get scratched as you remove it.
